    Why is having a strong core good for your running? How does it help? I know obviously that it does, but I just wanted some specifics on it. Thanks!

      It keeps your hips stable, and your pelvis facing straight ahead.  That gives your leg more power with each stride, otherwise your torso turns and dips slightly which makes the leg work weaker.  (did I describe that clearly? )

        Also prevents lower back pain on long runs as I am finding it out these days.  I haven't seen the inside of a weight room or done any core work in 2 years.

          I think it may alleviate how much your abs hurt when you catch yourself from a stumble during a long trail run.

          It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.
