Toilet Weather for Penguin Wednesday (Read 26 times)

Barking Mad To Run

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

    Barking Mad To Run

In other words:  Shitty!   Which is maybe appropriate for today, as November 19th is World Toilet Day.

It's also Rocky and Bullwinkle Day...

      Barking Mad To Run

Cold, crappy weather this morning, but at least there is hope for San Antonio today....per our local weather folks our temp will be shooting up to 63 degrees by  around 4 pm or so.   Right in time for my after-work run/walk, nice!

3.3 miles done yesterday at the park near the San Antonio Zoo.  A pleasant 52 degrees and sunshine, although a stiff wind gave it a 'feels like' temp of 48, but still not bad.   Started out kind of sluggish, but felt really better after the first half mile.  Killed it my last mile, with a 10:18 mile to finish.  That's probably walking pace for a lot of you, lol, but pretty speedy for an old dog like me.

        Return To Racing

Happy World Toilet Day, Scott and Pens. Congrats on 10:18. Were you running to the toilet?

Indoor or outdoor run for us this afternoon.  It depends.  DW left me in the her dust yesterday when I was doing the low HR thing.

          Have a great day!!!

Morning.  87F yesterday, 59F now.  It was funny seeing all the wool coats and parkas coming into downtown.  Crazy people.

Morning all. 6 done on the tm this morning.

              Singer who runs a smidge

Morning, Penguins!!  Yep, it's cold out there today!  I realized yesterday that I have to make my Thanksgiving cheesecake on Saturday!  I think this year I'll do a Black Forest cheesecake, with a cherry filling, a bit of cherry brandy in the batter, and a chocolate fudge topping.  Should be good!  Tonight is quartet rehearsal, definitely need to brush up some more on our Christmas music.  I don't remember quite as many songs as I thought I did ...

Scotty -- I LOVE Rocky and Bullwinkle!!  Wow, sounds like awesome weather this afternoon for you!!

Jerryb -- yeah, much of the low HR training involves embracing humility.  Have fun this afternoon!!

Docket -- Laughing at the frozen people in upper 50's!!  I think our high today is in the upper 30's ...

PAD -- woo-hoo for your TM 6!!  That's further than I could ever go on a TM.

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

                Jack K.

                  Hi Pens>

PAD: I hope you are enjoying the treadmill. I'm sure it beats running outside right now.

Scotty: I know what you mean about the cooler temps. Here, it's going all the way down to 72 today.

D: I still think it's time for you and Mr. D to move out of FL.

Easy miles for me today, likely RD tomorrow and easy miles and a few strides on Friday. 5k on Saturday and I'm already getting into the zone. It's been awhile since I have raced so I'm getting a bit antsy. Smile

                  See ya.

Unfortunately, he is more inclined now to NOT move than before.  Unless I find the perfect state, like California.  Sigh.

Come on out and meet us for the Avenue of the Giants in May! California is far from perfect, by the way...

Damaris - moving from Florida with no income tax to California with high income, property and sales taxes would be a bit of a shock, I think.

Scotty - nice weather for a run.  Any interesting zoo animals yesterday?

Jerry - enjoy your run today.  Is it above freezing yet?

Damaris - I remember hiking in Montana and seeing the locals gardening in tshirts and shorts at 50 degrees.  Seemed as crazy as wool coats and hats at 50.  Have fun at the gym.

PAD - good job on the TM run.

HopesMom - that cheesecake sounds wonderful.  The Christmas music words will come back quickly.  They're deeply engrained in your subconscious, from years and years of singing them.

Jack - it will be interesting to see whether your marathon training has hurt or helped your 5k speed.  I've read both can happen.  I haven't run a 5k in a year and a half, so I'm also curious about how I'll do next time I get the opportunity.

AFM:  It's a nice day - sunny and 27 at the moment, warming up to 33.  Our walk with Ben was very comfortable in down jackets and long johns under my pants. I have errands to run so if there's time and the sun stays out, I'll run later. If not, rest or xt day.

                        Jack K.

Ginny: It will be interesting. I am running it just to see where I am with my fitness. I want to race it so I get a true time and then I can plug it into a pace calculator to give me a starting point for my GMP when the next marathon cycle starts in five weeks. I really have no idea how this 5k is going to go.

                          Jill.

                          Penguin Power!

Afternoon all!  I just finished yet another blustery run!  4 miles in the bank.  I'm thinking of moving my LR up from Friday to tomorrow because tomorrow will be 5 degrees warmer.  Yep, welcome to winter ;-)

HsM - you made me drool with all of that cheesecake talk!  I haven't had dairy in 10 years, but cheesecake used to be my *favorite* food and was a big Thanksgiving/Christmas tradition in my family.

                            Upcoming Races: Run as One 4M (4/24) * Japan Run 4M (5/8) * Brooklyn Half (5/21)

5.2 done mostly trails. 38° and sunny calm winds so it was nice. Back at 70° Sunday but bad storms. Crazy weather.

I got overwhelmed reading low HR stuff and canceled my order for my book and heart monitor and ordered more shoes.  I got some Skecher go run Ultras
