Music that keeps you at your goal pace (Read 210 times)

Sub1:40orBust

    I don't run with an iPod or other music player, but I have been known to sing to myself on long runs. Below are 2 very different songs that keep me at right about an 8:30 pace. I use songs like this to finish strong or break out of LaLa land when my pace has slipped.

    Godsmack

    Anyone else have particular songs that get the legs locked into that goal pace (training or race)?

      I've found good suggestions here:

      Not a dude

        No, but Schism by Tool makes me feel like a total badass for some reason. The Lovecats by The Cure puts some extra pep in my step.

        Do you sing out loud or in your head?

          Most of the time I am in lala land listening to my shoes hit the road, but when I sing its in my head. The only problem this presents is when a song gets stuck in your head and loops there for 2 hours.

            This song always gets my ass movin'.  I don't remember who posted this vid on RW a while back, but it changed my life.

                The jeopardy theme song.  I don't want it to be that, but it is...for miles and miles.

                    Any New Orleans bounce, especially DJ Jubilee. Cult of Personality by Living Colour.  Some old school (Wu Tang Clan, Grandmaster Flash, LL Cool J) and new school (Kanye, Jay-Z, Drake, Tyler, The Creator) hip hop.  Pretty much only listen to hip-hop while running but its hard to find anything outside of the genre to motivate me and help keep my pace while running.

                      Found this one today, it's a keeper.  Maybe even pre-5K material:

                      Drink up moho's!!

                        I have heard that some people like this song to keep them moving at race pace.

                        Chasing the bus

                           I like these guys a lot lately, and at 180 bpm, this works;

                          and if you like ska, these guys are good. Two more at 180.
