Just over a quarter mile from the finish, a runner who had already finished was standing along the course cheering us on. He told us the finish line was “just ahead.”
I can relate, lol. I don't count the finish line as 'just ahead' until I can actually see it. Love those spectators along the way who yell out "Almost there!" and you still have over a mile to go, lol. Their hearts are in the right place, though.
