Singer who runs a smidge
The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)
When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run. The only thing that matters is how we have loved.
Hey, I got the big plus sign back! Well, y'all are all pluses in my book, so woo-hoo! Chorus rehearsal tonight for me.
Morning! You are playing with my heart! It's not Friday, boo.
Couldn't finished my MLR due to work, but I was still able to run 11 with 2 easy, 4 @ MP, 1 easy, 4 from MP and HMP. The 3 cooldown miles I'll have to do after Pilates tonight.
HopesMom, enjoy the chorus rehearsal. No idea what's going on with the Plus sign. Ha.

As part of the 2024 London Marathon, I am fundraising for VICTA, a charity that helps blind and visually impaired children. My mentor while in law school, Jim K (a blind attorney), has been a huge inspiration and an example of courage and perseverance. Please consider donating.

Do cooldown miles still count if you do them after some other workout??
No, but since they were cooldown miles (easy) I can still do them whenever I want too, wah, wah, wah.
Barking Mad To Run
Beautiful Thursday morning weather around here. 63 degrees, dew-point in the low 50s. Up at 5 a.m. and went to Fort Sam Houston. 3.5 miles very easy recovery run after doing hills on Tuesday and a long run (for me 6 miles is long) on Wednesday. Ran a mile or so with a few Army guys and gals, that was fun. About the halfway point I was running in an empty parking lot and took a header right into the asphalt. Well, landed on my elbow first, got that nice and scraped up. Kind of dark at that point so did not see the parking spot curb and tripped right over it. Also, my attention may have been diverted a bit by the cute Army lady running toward me. Nothing seriously damaged, got up and finished my run/walk.
Hey, I got the big plus sign back! Way to sum it up, HsM! Enjoy your chorus. Yes, HsM, cool-down miles count for Damaris anytime..cuz she's always 'cool'
Glad you were able to get most of your miles in, Damaris. Happy Pilates tonite!

Hi pens! Backup child care was a no-go (apparently you have to book more than one day ahead of time to get a sitter on no-school days, suppose I should have seen that coming) so I'm at home with the kid today and tomorrow. My boss is going to keeeeell me next week - I would have prioritized things differently Monday-Wednesday if I had known I wouldn't be at work.
Ran a really nice easy 3.5 last night - 9:40 pace, what? I even saw a number starting with an 8 until I purposely slowed down a bit. Fall weather is just the best. Rest day today. Tempo or progression run on tap for tomorrow.
Snuggling with my big fat tortoiseshell cat now, kid is coloring quietly (?!) - not a bad way to spend a dreary Thursday!
You can't cool down anyway, you're too smokin' hot!! (Can't believe Scottydawg didn't come up with this one ...)
This sounds really nice! Throw in some knitting and a batch of cookies, and I'm there!!

Hi Pens.
Nothing but easy miles for me for the next few weeks. Last week I ran 21 and this week should be about the same. We have a VERY busy weekend coming up, but more on that tomorrow. It looks like another dusk time run for me.
See ya.
Add a Winter night, a drink, and a chimney and I'm there.
Sounds like a Perfect Penguin Party!!
HopesMom - enjoy your rehearsal tonight. Do you have any concerts coming up?
Damaris - 11 miles is good for a workday morning, even if you are working from home.
Scotty - Ouch! Sorry you got hurt. That's one reason I don't like to hike or run in the dark, though around here I would be more likely to trip over a dead skunk than a curb.
Lauren - why no school? I hope you enjoy the rest of your unplanned day off.
Jack - Is your body behaving itself with the easy miles? Do you have a race in mind for this winter?
AFM: a rainy rest day for me. Soup and grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch, I think. We got more wet from sweat in our rain jackets while walking Ben than rain, but we still got wet. I'll probably do some exercise tape later.
Sounds like a nice way to spend a day, Lauren. Beats working!
Sorry you did not get into Boston. Have fun with the easy running, Jack! Welcome to my world! Take your camera along for a few runs, relax, take some pics, enjoy the easy miles for a while.
No big deal, Ginny, just lost a bit of skin from my arm and elbow. Have fun later with the exercise tape. Umm, it's not Jane Fonda is it?
Damaris, does anyplace in Miami even have a chimney? Besides the meth-making houses, I mean.
Return To Racing
Scotty, watch out for those dark curbs and cuties. Did she help you up at least?
