Cool     WELCOME TO THE DAILIES THREAD!     Cool

Anyone and everyone can post your runs, cross-training, abdominal work, rest days, race plans, training questions, etc.. The only stupid question is the one you did not post. There’s a great mix of beginners and veterans, runners and walkers, and maniacs and returners, from injury to running. We're all a little crazy here, too! While this thread is a terrific source of motivation for runners and serves as outstanding accountability, you’ll quickly find this remarkable group to be highly supportive of all life experiences. So, come on in, put your feet up, and stay a while (not literally)! And whoever is up first is welcome to start the thread and we definitely keep some weird hours.

Run to live; live to run

Ah the Michigan thread I see,......Morning Dave

off to run. Raining here too but will be hot later.

      Marjorie

        Morning all!

They made a movie about my backyard, it was called A River Runs Through It.

Really looking forward to mowing that thing this weekend.

Going to try to test-drive the leg for a few miles today & see how it feels.

Fortunately the temperature has come down around these parts (sorry, Western US), although still plenty humid.

        Have a great day everyone!

        Dave

        Go figure

Out to meet the crew for 12.  These guys are all signed up for the marathon coaching through our running store, and they do their long runs on Saturday.  Training for my last marathon, I did their long runs Saturday and then my own on Sunday, which I think actually worked perfectly for me.  So, for now, that's my plan again for this cycle too.  It's not tough when they're scheduled for 12 and I have 14 of my own, but gets a little more tricky later in the schedule.

          Marjorie...Happy running!

Dave...Good luck with the leg.  Mowing wet grass is a huge pain.  Okay, let's face it, mowing is a pain.

Wisconsin checking in! We've been dry the last week! No more splash park in the backyard, though ours wasn't quite as bad as Dave's - either that, or the hay field height of the grass was just hiding it.

My 7yo DS and I are heading out soon to do a one-mile walk/run fundraiser that benefits our next-door neighbors. Our friend Jenny is a teacher with two small kids (a daughter in DS's class and a son who is 5), who has been fighting a rare cancer for the last year. Today, we're running for Jenny, though not the same one known so well to this forum.

20,000 miles behind me, the world still to see.

'Morning and Happy Weekend!  I did 5.5 miles in early morning humidity this morning.  4 easy miles, and 3 x 1/2 mile of hard uphills.  9:05 avg pace.  Good run.

Off to the grocery store now!

Dave - good luck with that.  I mowed yesterday in between thunderstorms because I figured it was only going to get worse.  Roll eyes

Step, SIAR, Marjorie - enjoy your Saturdays!

I am heading to the rail trail shortly to do my "long run" (~6-7miles).   Having some coffee first!   This is good stuff.

So now it's Wisconsin - 2 ... Michigan - 2. (Do we even count Ohio?)

I'll be heading out with the RPs for an undetermined number of recovery miles this morning. There's actually a 5k planned in our town, but there's no way I'd run that right now. We'll probably just run the course beforehand as part of our easy run.

DaveP MI- I'd prefer that hammock to mowing ... just sayin'. Hope the test run goes well for you today.

MarjorieAnn3137- Enjoy that run and I'm guessing 10.7.

So_Im_a_Runner- Have a fun group run with LRS folks.

StepbyStep-SH- That's awesome for you and your DS doing the run/walk fundraiser together. BTW, your part of WI may have been dry but mine wasn't - we got that 6 inches overnight Tues that left things looking more like Dave's yard ... though I swear we had whitecaps.

ETA ... drat! A couple of east coasters snuck in x-posting me...now I've lost count.

                  Train smart ... race smarter.

                    Supp!

I'm getting a late start, had a blast with the fam last night.  The Keurig is doing its thang and I'll be heading to the track once my head clears.

                      Fail. Run aborted.

Ugh, I guess I need to give it some more time. Cry

ETA: on a higher note, dinner at CPK last night, tried the Jamaican Jerk Pizza. Yum! Now I just need to figure out how to burn that off....

Morning!  Hubby run and weights tonight.

Dave, I'm sorry the run was a fail.  Did you ever go to the doctor?  I would go to a PT to make sure it's nothing else that we have not think of.

As part of the 2024 London Marathon, I am fundraising for VICTA, a charity that helps blind and visually impaired children. My mentor while in law school, Jim K (a blind attorney), has been a huge inspiration and an example of courage and perseverance. Please consider donating.

You mean someone other than Dr. Google? Last resort!!

I may try another week of rest first, but I suppose it may be better to see someone sooner rather than later.

Dumb question for y'all: I've never seen anyone about a running-related injury. I am on a program where I have to see my PCP first; he is a GP and is probably going to tell me don't run & take some Advil. OK I really don't know what to expect, but do you guys end up seeing more of a specialist to diagnose the problem, or does your regular doc just send you to PT?

Call now because you may have to wait to get into PT anyway - and if you end up feeling better, you can always cancel it.

Yes, my PCP sends me to PT.   That seems to be their default recommendation for most of my stuff.   lol  Then if no improvement, they'll send me to a specialist.   Tell him you've already tried the rest thing and that you want some PT to fix whatever is broken.   A good therapist can be more helpful than waiting a month to see a specialist anyway.
