      Morning peeps.

It's gonna be wet, wet day at the races.

        Morning!  West coast checking in!

I have a conference today, and then plan on running 5 afterwards.  Hopefully it cools off in the evening like it did yesterday.

DaveP- I second trying to get an appointment sooner rather than later.  With my knee, I tried waiting and resting because I didn't want to just run to the doc.  Then I had something like 3 weeks to wait between when I scheduled my appointment and when I got in.  Then I went right over to the PT's office, and had another week to wait to get in there!    Since my insurance doesn't require it, I skipped the GP visit and saw a Physician's Assistant who works at a sports medicine clinic.  I do know that the actual sports medicine doctor won't see you unless you've been referred by your GP or his PA.   But I would prefer so see a PA who specializes in sports medicine and is active himself than a family doc who is going to tell me that running is bad for me and that I should take advil.  In any case, I wish you speedy recovery!

Step- Sending good wishes for Jenny!

          running is bad for you

Call now because you may have to wait to get into PT anyway - and if you end up feeling better, you can always cancel it.

Yes, my PCP sends me to PT.   That seems to be their default recommendation for most of my stuff.   lol  Then if no improvement, they'll send me to a specialist.   Tell him you've already tried the rest thing and that you want some PT to fix whatever is broken.   A good therapist can be more helpful than waiting a month to see a specialist anyway.

            YES, Call now!!

Some pcp's are better than other with referrals.  I think today though most have no problem just giving you the referral.  If you've been at all recently maybe you can even get one without going to see him/her.  Although if you think you may have some real damage, get a referral to an ortho to diagnose the injury.  Orthos treat/fix the symptoms and good sports injury pts treat the problem that caused the injury in the first place <--learning that lesson now the hard way.  A good Osteopath will do both.

I'm actually lucky I don't need a referral but I do need a script for PT.  SO I have an ortho appt and the earliest I could get in was 2 weeks.  In the meantime I've found a PT who I **HOPE** can fix me and he said he'd even see me before I can get the script.

Good luck.  Keep us posted.  Maybe we should add all the B&B injuries to our spreadsheet Oski Wink

            Uffda

Morning dailies! ND checking in 65, overcast with a bit of wind. It's actually pretty nice out. Shooting for a high around 80 today.

Started out my 5 mile run at an easy pace, but unlike earlier in the week, the legs said GO! So I cranked it up and ran it at GHMP overall. Pretty good considering the first 2 miles were about +45. Took off my shoes and my right ankle hurts. WTF.

Have a good day peeps. I'm going to mow and maybe fix the toilet that doesn't want to stop running.

                      Morning, Dailies, and Happy Saturday!

Dave, you might have to squeegee that lawn before you mow it!

Looking for 4-6 miles today to finish out the week. I might even do a couple tomorrow solely for increasing my monthly total. Depends on how I feel, I guess.

Have a great day, all, and good luck to the racers out there!

Waiting for the thunderstorms to pass, then six miles with the sistah. Someone please give me the kick in the ass I need to feel motivated. Ugh.

Ha-ha, I wish, I got my ass handed to me.

                            1 mile - 6:38 (quarter mile splits were 1:38, 1:38, 1:43, 1:39)

It was an absolute abomination of a workout, and I knew it after the first 800.  I just didn't have it today, mentally or physically

I toughed it out because even though you sometimes have workouts like these, they still may pay dividends on race day...

                            yeah right lmao!

                              Hi!

I was originally planning on doing 18, but yesterday decided to do 20 to get that pesky first 20-miler out of the way. I was going to do it next Friday (my office gave us a bonus day off for the 4th) but I didn't want to think about it for a week. Smile

I feel really good. Feet are sore, and it was slow-going due to the sun and humidity, but I got it done. Now I'm trapped in a cleaning frenzy because we're having friends over later. No rest for the weary.
