Nap BEFORE Thanksgiving Penguin Thursdailies (Read 25 times)

obiebyke

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here.

Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the caommon benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges."

It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

Happy Thanksgiving! I am thankful for way too much to list everything, but a few important ones are, my wife of 31 years, my 3 boys, my fun and silly DIL, 3 wonderful grandkids, me beating cancer, a good job, and, the will and desire to make life the best I can with what I have.

What are some of the things you are thankful for?

Hi Obie, good luck. I'm at work today, so I'll be waiting for the results, be sure to check back to let us know how it went.

Bin, don't spend all your money at one site, haha.

7.1 last night in 28 degrees with wind, I forgot to look at the feels like temp, but it was cold. All my kids and wife are doing all the cooking today, so dinner will be ready when I get home.

Hello all. I did 4 miles last night. My calf was a little tight at first, but it loosened up quickly. No running now until next Monday. I will be at MIL's house for Thanksgiving. Next week I start rebuilding my fitness level and decide which direction I am going racewise. I am debating about my original plan of short races or doing another HM since I didn't get to race this last one.

            Personal Bests:

            800M - 2:38 (5/28/13) | 1 Mile -5:54 (5/28/13) | 3K - 11:55 (12/29/12) | 2M - 13:00 (12/1/12) | 5K - 20:00 (4/12/13) | 13.1M - 1:37:24 (2/3/13)

                Good Morning Thankful Penguins!

Obie - Good luck in your 5K!

Bin - Hope you get some great online deals!

Mitch - Looks like you have many great people and things to be thankful for!

Dan - hope your calf behaves itself. You are a fast runner and I'm sure what ever direction you go will bring success!

PAD - nice run in the cold

As for me I ran 12 miles in the cold and wind. My hands warmed up at about mile 4 and all was good after that. Did see 2 robins - I guess they missed their flight! I did notice some patches of ice every once in a while - I have to make a mental note of this because most of my running is in the dark and if I did this run at night I would have probably gone down.

I am thankful for my wife, the gifts and talents I have, and my job - to name a few!

I'm so vegetarian I don't even eat animal crackers!

Hi guys. I have a lot to be thankful for- wonderful husband and daughter, stable job where I am appreciated, our home which is just steps away from some lovely river trails. I have been very fortunate.  Also, I  thankful that I was able to catch my weight problem in time, before I had lasting health impacts from it, and that I have been able to develop and enjoy an active lifestyle. I could have been diabetic, tired, and without the energy to do much of anything by now. But I'm not.

Still haven't run since the HM, but these next few days are about spending time with family and getting to know SIL's new family better. Hope I remember how to run when I get back!

I can't manage personals on the phone, but good luck to all racers! And have a great meal, everyone! DH made our traditional Thanksgiving vegetarian soup, hehe.

Oh, and I am also thankful that Jack learned how to post photos, Wink

Morning again! It was FREEZING out there. I had to weave among dumb walkers and deal with frozen toes for the first mile, but I'm happy with my time. Garmin says 35:57. MTA: Chip time same.
