It is Barefoot! This is a shot I took of a bare foot runner yesterday at the park in the middle of our storm in temps in the teens and a wind chill of 4!
It was all I could do to get my phone out in time for one shot as dude was moving along quite rapidly but here it is!
My personal opinion is that barefoot running in general is silly and pointless. In the snow, it's just stupid. The last time I checked, "mental toughness" does not prevent "frostbite."
Short term goal: 17:59 5K
Mid term goal: 2:54:59 marathon
Long term goal: To say I've been a runner half my life. (I started running at age 45).

My feet can take on cold, but I wouldn't do that. I do like trekking/running trails barefoot though.

You think his feet are any colder than mine were after wading through slush for a mile? We're in the same position except that he doesn't have wet shoes and socks!
(Not that I'd run barefoot... in the snow or ever.)

because i never shut up ... i blog
All I'm thinking is: he must be having all kinds of fun doing it. It seems like it'd be such childlike fun. I don't run barefoot, but I think I could do it - at least handle the cold and the elements.
What about sand? Or a trail?

Barking Mad To Run
OK, LRB, who did you get to take that photo of you?
And hey, he's not barefoot...after a few steps through the snow he'd be wearing snow-shoes, wouldn't he?

Well of course he was running fast! I'm surprised he's not just skimming over the top of the snow.
That would be the only way I would and I am not sure I would then. When I do my polar plunge I wear water shoes.
