Eye of Sauron
1. I stated rather loudly that admins here couldn't do certain things that only the owner could do. I was wrong about that.
2. I used to think that gatorade was really important in runs longer than 45 minutes. I was wrong about that, at least a lot of those runs.
3. I used to think that certain people were amazing because they were really great runners. I was wrong. Some of them are amazing because they are really great people. Others, well, not so much. Nobody is perfect. It's just running.
4. I used to think a lot of things about running that just don't seem to be.
5. I used to think a lot of things about a lot of things that just don't seem to be. Age will do that.
Sunday, 12/23, I get a hole punched into my spine and another punched into my hip bone or shoulder bone.
Monday, 12/24, I get to spend the morning in a tube. Then I get to be radiated and spend the afternoon in a different tube.
Merry Christmas.
If I am very lucky, I will turn into spiderman or captain america. Based on prior experiences, I am more likely to turn into the hulk... but without the extra size or strength. Just the attitude.
I did, however, run 4000 miles in 2012. So I've got that going for me. Which is nice.
And once again Mr. Wizard (aka: Stevie Ray) explains the internet.

I just got a visual of Jeff Goldblum when he turned into the 'Fly'. I wish you the best SRL. I'll be thinking of you.
Be careful of the toes that you step on, because they may be connected to the ass that you have to kiss.
Aww... that sucks. Good luck, SRL. Wishing you the best.

Sloooow.
Well, congratulations on the miles. Will be thinking of you on the 23rd. Not creepy, promise.
RUN/BIKE/SWIM REPEAT
Yeah, I was pretty sure about a lot of stuff in life until I turned 40.
Then I turned 50 and realized I knew even less.
Life and experience has a way of making you more humble and more wise at the same time and
sometimes not for good reasons.
Wed 12/26 I turn 51 years old. I used to think that would suck big time. No I know how damn lucky
I am.
I also now know not much matters in life besides having your family and your health. Running, although
fun is way on the bottom of the list.
You rock and I wish you the best of luck SRL. In the most sincere way possible over the "interwebs"

When I think about stuff that I KNOW (capital K N O W, "that shit must be true") compared to the stuff that I once knew, it is kind of amazing how truth shifts over time. Stuff that seemed factual that turned out not to be, things that weren't important that now are important, etc etc etc.
I shall now grab my guitar and play the Twelfth of Never and Where Have All the Flowers Gone.
If I had a uke, I'd play a song called White Sandy Beach.
True story: I always thought Twelfth of Never and I Gave My Love a Cherry (see: Animal House, Hulk smash guitar) were the same song. Nope.
True story, side note: I Gave My Love a Cherry is also known as The Riddle Song.
Oh. Mentioning my mileage? That was a bit of my in joke. I'm not fishing for a compliment. Right now it feels really REALLY unimportant.
