Already been invented.
I've been running the Groovefest 1/4 Marathon for a couple years now.
L.A. needs to get with the program.
(It's really a pretty fun distance, though it's basically a 10K)

Old concept - they had them back in the 70s.
2024 Races:
03/09 - Livingston Oval Ultra 6-Hour, 22.88 miles
05/11 - D3 50K 05/25 - What the Duck 12-Hour
06/17 - 6 Days in the Dome 12-Hour.
They should promote the fact that virtually all who enter will achieve a PR!

I distained the distance then; I still do. I have never raced at that distance.

I was pretty mad when a 10K course measured very long. I would have PRed if it was anything close to 6.2. Now I'll just call it a quarter marathon!

I had not heard of it but I am sure I will in the coming months. And before you thumb your nose at it, if we are not careful it may overtake the 10k in popularity where the 10k becomes a thing of the past. Imagine that!

This race has been in Miami for two years. The first time I saw it I was like
They added a HM last year (which is the one I did with hubby) but they still have that quarter marathon there.

How about an Ekiden? *So* much strategy would go into one of these. Choosing teammates, deciding which segment each runner gets, pacing relative to the other teams.. it would be really neat.
