Dog runs away, competes in half marathon, then gets finishers medal (Read 100 times)

LRB

"After a day on the lam, Boogie Butts of Evansville, Ind., was apprehended Saturday after he sneaked onto a half-marathon course and led authorities on a 13-mile chase among 2,000 race participants.

However, in an interesting twist, Butts was awarded with a medal for finishing the race after he was released to his family on Monday."

See, see, see, this is why finishers medals have no meaning.  Roll eyes

    Story here.

I saw this and laughed.  I think this was the HM Andrea did.

          Drink up moho's!!

He only did 13 miles though, I say he has to forfeit the finishers medal since he did not start it correctly.

It would be even worse if he was wearing headphones.

Where does the 2:15 place him in age-graded time?

Actually supposedly he started with the runners around mile 3-4 so he didn't do 13 but ran maybe 10 Joking and I still beat him! Big grin I'd have to say not bad for an 8 year old lab, 100 lbs and supposedly hardly ever exercises, most labs I see are fat and lazy. Of course this guy got clipped after the race apparently..... but I am pro neuter/spray.

Nice. My dog pushed open the back window of my truck yesterday and decided to run around inside Meijers. All she got was a cookie and  I received stern looks from onlookers.

Well done! Now, was it goal A, B or C? Big grin

Boogie died of a heart attack Wednesday morning, being an 8 year old lab, 100 lbs and apparently not exactly active I wondered if that distance was going to hurt him. He looked a bit overweight in some of his pictures, I am sure my boy Rocky could do 13 miles right now with a bunch of people but I know it would not be good for his health yet, he's only up to 4 miles. Sad RIP Boogie
