Wednesday Penguins - Is It Cold Enough For You? (Read 30 times)

Dad on the run.

Just stopping in for a quick hello! Running is going great, I'm so glad I'm finally able to get back out there!

Ready for the temp to warm up a bit, we have a heat pump in our house and it can't keep up with the cold. We have it set on 69 and our house got down to 59 yesterday!

      Hello all.

Gustav - That is cold. I have never ran in weather that cold.

Jerry - Enjoy the short run.

Damaris - Enjoy the 7 miles. Don't sweat too much.

Scott - You share a birthday with my wife. 45,000 is a huge amount.

Z - Good luck with the intervals.

Jack - Good luck with the new inserts. I have been using custom insoles for about 1 1/2 years. Between them and switching shoes, I solved a lot of my problems.

Kristen - Nice job on the swim.

Ginny - Enjoy the cross training and good luck getting to run outside tomorrow.

AFM - I just got back from the doctor. He believes that my calf should clear itself up in the next two months. I will have another ultrasound in March and hopefully go off the blood thinners at that point. After the clot is gone, I will be taking aspirin the rest of my life.

Last night I did my first tempo run since I was diagnosed with the blood clot in October. I gained confidence as I ran. I did the first mile slow and cautiously at 7:12. I gained confidence in the second mile and did it in 6:59. I was very happy to see the sub-7. The third mile felt great and I ended out doing it in 6:53. The final .1 was a weak kick at a 6:24 pace. 21:43 for the 3.1 miles and an average pace of 7:01. I am very happy with it. Tonight, I am doing an easy 3.1 - 3.5 mile run.

      Personal Bests:

      800M - 2:38 (5/28/13) | 1 Mile -5:54 (5/28/13) | 3K - 11:55 (12/29/12) | 2M - 13:00 (12/1/12) | 5K - 20:00 (4/12/13) | 13.1M - 1:37:24 (2/3/13)

Ginny foot is ok. I'm going to try do do my Homecare cases sans boot tonight. I'm supposed to be weaning off but I didn't get home til 10pm last night and left at 7:30....so I was really in the boot all day. The point of this week is supposed to be getting prepared to be done with the boot fulltime so I am wearing the boot at my fulltime job and brought the left sneaker with me for my part-time job. I'm nervous!

        on my way to badass

Hey Penguins!  Checking in.  Mileage took a dive due to weather and work stuff.  Expecting a thaw and some serious miles (for me) over the weekend.

Still waiting for the perfect race picture. 5K PR-33:52 , 10K PR 1:11:16, First HM 2:42:28

Switching my SRD to today.  Still with my migraine, so I'm going to nap or attempt to nap.

            Return To Racing

Survived dentist (crown), and ran solo 3m in the slushy streets and park.  Kind of slow with slush in the Yaxtrax and the wet shoes, but felt good in the 12F heat wave.

Z, excited about your going for the FM in October.  Good luck, you'll do great !!!  Hope its a race with real time tracking so we can follow you.

I didn't check in yesterday, but anybody that is on facebook knows why.  I was out getting some ink.  It's been a while.  Anyway, I'm still doing well without tobacco.  I chewed for 18 years.  So, 8 days without tobacco is a little early to celebrate, but it's going better than past attempts.  I was told to take today off from running, because of this:

Hope you're tobacco free, AW.  That's a pretty funny looking penguin on your leg (or arm).

Awood: Congrats on going chewless. I've never tried the stuff as it just looks too disgusting (no offense). On the ink: WOW!!!  Do you care to share the meaning of it?

Everybody on my college wrestling team chewed.  We were a nasty group in general...haha

I have several tattoos.  The only thing that I have powerlifting related is the physics equation F=MxA or force = mass times acceleration.  I've always kind of regretted not getting something cooler than that.

I'm a runner now though, and I wanted to get a running tattoo.  I didn't want it to be like all the other running tattoos though.  So, I looked around.  I see a lot of tattoos with winged shoes and stuff.  I don't feel like I'm flying when I run.  I feel more mechanical like pumping pistons, internal combustion, etc.  Then, I looked at the other runners, and realized that I'm kind of like the big ole diesel engine out there.  I tend to zone out during races.  So, I told the guy that I wanted a skull to symbolize how I shut my brain down on a good run, and some mechanical looking parts to represent how I feel when I run, and some pipes blowing smoke like a big ole diesel engine.  Then, he threw in a busted gear because I told him about minor injuries that I endured training for the marathon.  Finally, there's the roman numerals for 26.2 on the forehead of the skull.  Now, anybody behind me on race day will have something to look at.

Very cool. I have no ink, but I can appreciate the thought that went into that. Everything on it has a meaning to it. It was also cool of you to put your trust in that guy and let him use his professional judgement. Good stuff.

By the way, I got a FB. My cousin married a psycho who puts her whole life on there so I couldn't help myself.  LMAO!!!
