Or at least I am pretty sure it's her, she is the wife of a soldier, was at an army base, the sow grizzly had cubs so it has to be the same runner we spoke of a week or 2 ago... right?

Yes, I posted the link yesterday in the original thread. There's 2 interviews - one with her (about 30 min) and one with the guy who rescued her (about 11 min). These links may not be right, but will get you to one of the interviews and the other is the upper left corner of the 4 block.

It was a senior medic who just happened along the road at the right time.

Where did that thread go anyways? Do you mean the thread in the Trailer Trash group?

Honestly, I think if she had kept running... maybe even sprinted the moment she saw the cub, she might have not been attacked. Listening to her story, it sounds like her mistake was stopping, the mother bear saw her stop near the cub and just went with her instincts to protect her cub.

We'll let you test that idea.

do you have any idea how fast a bear moves?  Turning her back may not have helped.

Wow, pretty amazing she survived all that!  Glad she will be okay.

Yet another reason I will never go to Alaska.  Adventures with dogs is quite enough for me.

I had one cut through my yard one morning and I could not believe how fast that thing was moving.
