First Friday of the new year Penguins! (Read 33 times)

GinnyinPA

Jimmy - sounds like a fun evening, though I'm not sure how long I'd want to be outdoors tonight looking at the stars.  It's supposed to get down to about 4 here.

Dave - good luck with the race tomorrow.  Hope it's not too cold.

PAD - good job on the 5 this morning.

Bin - are you starting a new plan?

Damaris - that's a long recovery run.  Hope the pain stays away.

Jerry - both gym and treadmill in one day - you're starting the new year right.

HM - given yesterday's weather, staying home was a good idea.

Mitch - that is really cold for Alabama.  Good job getting outside in it.  I think it's hard to dress when it's that cold, just because the first mile you're still cold, and then you're too warm.

LewJeffrey - you're a very good neighbor.   Sorry the run wasn't as good as you'd hoped, but at least you got to see the beautiful white snow.

Dan - I hope you enjoy your run tonight.  I stiffen up a lot when I sit more than an hour.  If I drink a lot of water or coffee, I get to get up often to get rid of it which helps keep me moving.

Scotty - Enjoy your double rest day -- though waiting at the doctor's office isn't usually all that restful.

Obiebyke -   I hope your shins and knee stop hurting so you can do your 50 miles this month.  Can you walk/run it?

Z -good luck on the tempo run.  After the hills you've been running this week, it will probably feel easy.

AFM:  When we walked Ben and shoveled the driveway, it was 13, feels like -10, though I think that was wrong as it wasn't all that windy.  In our down coats and gloves, with leather hiking boots and wool socks, I was actually sweating.  Now it's gone up to 17, feels like 1.  I'm not running outside today, though the sun is shining and the snow by the side of the road is only a couple of inches deep.  The roads are very icy and I'm just not willing to risk slipping and sliding.  I'm glad I have a treadmill; I just have to get inspired to go down and turn it on.

    Zelanie

Margo- Glad you caught that early!  I bet you get past it much faster.

Ginny- One of the things I am looking forward to at home is syncing my Garmin so I can see the elevation of my recent runs.  I hear you about running outside.  When we had the weeklong freeze I just stuck with the treadmill.  I told myself I would go outside as soon as I saw another running looking like they were able to run with their normal stride.  Otherwise, it wasn't worth the risk of having to take more time off.

Hi everyone, working from home today.  With the snow, I would've spent 3 hours commuting round trip, and that's just silly when I can boot up my laptop here.

I have adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder) again -- this time in my right shoulder.    One year ago I couldn't move my left arm, and it took 4 months of PT and another couple months on my own to get the ROM back.  This time I sought help earlier, and from a chiropractor instead of an M.D.  This chiro group works with athletes and incorporate ART and Graston techniques -- the doc I saw this morning thinks he can get me loosened up much faster than what I did last year.  I hope so.  I'm pretty sore after today's session, but I did gain some range of motion.

Spin class at the gym this afternoon.

Hope it's not as bad this time!

Philliefan - enjoy the spin class. I hope the shoulder feels better soon.

Z - I hope the tempo run goes well.

Ginny - Good call on the treadmill.

obie - I hope the knee heals quickly.

HM - That is a little more info than I need,  but DD tends to forget her bra.

Someone wanted to be my best friend at work today. She brought cupcakes for our group.

Yeah, I know.  Thinking about too many things at once ...

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

That's terrible! No way to Gibbs-Slap your DH when he misbehaves...so he kinda has a 'free pass' now to do stupid things...

As Zelanie said, glad you caught this one early!  Hope you are back to 100% in no time!

Margo - did you do something to the shoulder to cause it to freeze up or does it just happen? I hope it heals faster this time.

Scotty, wind is supposed to die down tonight, so that's good!

Ginny, forecast shows a feels like of 19-21* for tomorrow morning.  This will be the first time I've had to wear tights for a race.

Thanks Zel, we'll see how it goes. Smile

PF, hope that clears up quick!

We had a cold front come through Wednesday night, but it is already 51 with a south wind today. Tomorrow's high is supposed to be 61.

                      Return To Racing

6 warm miles on the indoor track.  Not real crowded and the walkers stay off the running lanes.  Felt kind of sluggish, but we ran after lunch.

Not this time. With my other shoulder, I could trace it back to a specific event. This time it just happened. According to Dr. Google, 30% of the people who get a frozen shoulder also get it in the other shoulder. Lucky me?  I'm optimistic that catching it early this time will lead to a faster recovery.   It doesn't bother me at all when I run.

Good news to report......my friend's wife is off the vent, still in ICU, but moving in the right direction.

                            It's still cold here.

Margo, so sorry to hear about your other shoulder.
