Super B****
I ran a marathon on August 25. On the entry form, it said that photos would be uploaded after the 29th of August. I fail to understand why it takes four days to upload photos that aren't even tagged, but fine, I'll wait.
It is long past August 29, so I sent an email to find out when (if?!) these photos are going to be posted.
"Photos will be up in a week or two from the finish line. Photos from throughout the race could be up in a few days."
Seriously?! WHY DOES IT TAKE THREE WEEKS TO UPLOAD PHOTOS?! I photographed a race today, one which had more participants than the marathon. Guess what? The photos are already up. It doesn't take three weeks to stick a memory card into a computer and click "upload."
This wouldn't annoy me SO much except that I have some sort of allergy to race photographers, and I don't want to spend weeks eagerly anticipating photos of my first marathon only to find out I turned into a vampire again. THE END.

There is no rhyme or reason to it. Sometimes it's a few days, other times ten. Whenever it is be prepared to pay a million dollars or have to buy some ridiculous package that makes it not even worth for the one shot that is only halfway decent.

Smaller photographers seem to turn it round faster than the large groups, AND are generally cheaper and more into customer service.
Large groups - meh.
Over [priced, late and buy this package or GTFO.

I never understand why. It has no logic. Hope you get your photos soon.

As part of the 2024 London Marathon, I am fundraising for VICTA, a charity that helps blind and visually impaired children. My mentor while in law school, Jim K (a blind attorney), has been a huge inspiration and an example of courage and perseverance. Please consider donating.

They are free, but then -- so are the photos I took. It was a small race (333 participants), so it's not like there would even be that many pictures!! It's not a large photo agency, either -- I believe the people taking pictures were all members of SCMT, which put on the race. So I don't get it. At all.
Do you have any idea how pissed I'm going to be if I don't even end up having any?? (Which, with my track record, is entirely possible.)
I have run big races like Boston and Falmouth along with a bunch of smaller ones but have never seen it take more than a week here including free ones. Occasionally I get emails a week after that they found more.
Not that anyone except for me is counting, but -- I'M STILL WAITING. Ten days later.
These must be the best shots ever...or the worst.
Wouldn't you like to know (I sure would!!!!)
I ran a local-ish 5K last year, for which pictures were never posted. There were a couple of photographers on the course, and a person near the finish taking pics with an iPad. The only thing they ever posted was of the kids' fun run. Granted, it was a small race, and I didn't necessarily expect a searchable database with package options, but why take them if they're just going into somebody's trash bin?

"Thanks for running the 2014 Bunny Hop 5K and Fun Run on Saturday. Results are posted at the link below. We should have the race photos up by tonight or tomorrow. Hope you had a blast and see you next year!"
Still no pictures.

I have found that with a lot of the smaller races I do, the pictures (if there are any) wind up on sites other than the race management company. I've found albums posted on the charity or sponsors websites and/or Facebook.
Thing is, they've got the photos from years past... so they DO eventually show up. If there's a way to figure out what date those went up, I'm too stupid to figure it out, so I don't know how long it took last year.
But, I mean, it's only ten days. And a week past when they said it would be posted. But whatever.

Why not just email the RD?
