never runs the tangents
I've been concerned that I was missing out on some strength and flexibility by just running. I was doing a pretty decent job of getting to the Y to lift 2 or 3, mostly 2 times a week at lunch but work has been crazy lately so I've hung it up until after year end. I was doing some swimming but not very consistently.
so
I thought hey maybe I'll try something new, like cross fit.
Then I was at my LRS picking up race packets and doing a bit of Christmas shopping when some cross fit types walked in all posturing, strutting around, and clearly thinking that were all that.
That's when I remembered that people who do cross fit are assholes.
I don't want to be an asshole.
Maybe I'll just try harder to make it too the pool and get back to lifting at lunch.

Glad to know I'm an asshole. I must have missed the original memo.

Yup worse than cyclists even
personal attack.
WTF part of 'no personal attacks' is hard to understand.

why didn't anybody tell me that Monday was the new "Friday"? I forgot my popcorn dammit!

The worst thing about "CrossFit types" is that they take themselves so seriously and don't have a sense of humor.
::::::::::sigh:::::::::: Are posts being moderated already? Is there really a need to do that unless it's an actual threat or something obviously offensive such as a racial slur? Is the ghost of S*S being felt?
Short term goal: 17:59 5K
Mid term goal: 2:54:59 marathon
Long term goal: To say I've been a runner half my life. (I started running at age 45).
Wickedly Average
Ain't got a dog in this race (at least I didn't...)...
But just to clarify, I've been described as an "asshole" and I've never done "Cross Fit". Therefore, there is no correlation between the two.
PS - as a rotating shift worker, any day of the week can be Friday. Or, Monday.

Oops, I must be in the wrong thread!!!
Just ignore that avatar of the girl with her road bike!
I have heard a few people think I"m a jerk because I run marathons.
Plus I'm learning to swim too..........the madness continues!!
Might as well look into CrossFit too!
Swim!???!!!!???
You're learning to SWIM????
Blasphemy! Unleash the dogs of Run!

Well, technically I already know how to swim. But I want to be one of those annoying tri-athletes so
I figured some technique lessons and practice can't hurt. I even have goggles and an ugly yellow
cap!!
Apparently I am doing part to annoy people who indiscriminately don't like runners, cyclists or swimmers!
You may cuss. You may state strong opinions.
The absolute singular thing that eric said: NO PERSONAL ATTACKS (edit: I also had a 'hate speech' qualifier here, which I am munching)
Edit: I realize that eric said that about the main forum... off the beaten path... and not here. He also said he wouldn't interfere unless someone complained. If we start all telling each other "you are an asshole" or stuff at that level, well, some people will rubberneck the entertainment, but this is supposed to be "Beginners and Beyond" and if you want to attract new folks, well, that's only going to attract a particular type of folk. And I guarantee if we all start calling each other asshole out of anger, someone IS going to tell eric.
You do not want that.
I know, I know. "Personal attack" can be grey. And words are just words. Still.
aponi made a weird stereotype joke and called a faceless group of people "assholes". That is a weird joke, and feel free to call her on the stereotype in strongest terms. Short of personal attacks. Calling another user a name you'd wash your 11 year old's mouth out with soap (figuratively or literally) if he/she used it, IS. I thought so anyway.
No weirdly applied, no-context-involved sanguine soul interdiction. No banning.
But it's a simple thing, really.
I am a dumb dumb doody head. And the ghost of sanguine soul is cold.

Actually, kidding aside, swimming's cool. Although in my 53 years of life, I never really learned (confession - with several beers and a life jacket, I can maneuver in water if necessary).
Need to see the yellow cap - I can't believe that it could be described as "ugly" as long as it's close to your noggin!
