Long term goal: To say I've been a runner half my life. (I started running at age 45).
Apparently, I am a pro when it comes to lousy runs. I don't no stinkin' late nights, bad food, flat tires, detours, stomach virus...bunch of amateurs! I can fully capable of having a lousy run under PERFECT conditions! I can have a lousy run after 8 hours of sleep, wearing brand new pair of fantastic running shoes, in absolutely perfect weather. Bow down at my lousiness.

Well there's your problem! You've gotta break those suckers in!
i know the feeling though. I'll have good runs on days I feel good and on days I feel bad, and I'll have lousy runs on both sorts of days as well. And as a novice I can't figure out what the actual difference is, so I just pray for a good day on race day.
