We went to the movies and watched Django Unchained.  Classic Quentin Tarantino; loved it.

You guys talking about snow and nice temperatures.  Our high today was 81F, pfffttt.

I ended up getting 4.3 miles done at an easy pace.

Merry Christmas everyone. About a week and a half of no running due to sickness and about 8 lbs up in weight. My fat ass is running tomorrow and whatever junk food is left in the house after tonight is going in the garbage. Time to get serious again.

              Barking Mad To Run

Merry Christmas, Penguins!  Crazy weather going on here in San Antonio.  Weather for us was 65 degrees and sunny at 9:30 a.m.  Gail and I went down to the Riverwalk she did a powerwalk and I did 3.4 miles run/walk.  Gail also wore her BRIGHT HOT PINK Asics Nimbus that I had just given her for Christmas. She said she got a lot of favorable comments on them during her walk.  This was kind of a streak for me, lol, usually the most days I run in a row is 3, but this was my 4th straight day of running. Not exactly Awood/Dave worthy, but I felt pretty good out there today and for me and my old back that is progress.   For being Christmas, there were actually quite a few other runners besides me out on the Riverwalk.  Before I had even done a mile, I counted 6 along my way, and then encountered about  7 or 8 more during the rest of my outing.  Funny at one point, two young ladies were running toward me and each had a dog hooked to those hands-free leashes. Since it was narrow at that point along the path, we all came to a walk to let each other by.  I gave the dogs treats.  After I got clear of the ladies and dogs, I began running again.  Behind me I heard one of the ladies call "Hey, you, come back here!"  I thought she was calling to me - maybe I had dropped something - stopped and turned to look....she was calling to her dog, lol, who had taken after ME after I gave him the treat, getting her turned around.  Guess he wanted another treat!  We had a laugh about it, and I gave the lady the treat this time to give to her dog later, and we went our separate ways.

Also, during my run/walk there was a Splashdown into the river!  Not me this time though, lol.  Some guy was taking a photo and I guess kept backing up to get a better shot...and right off the walkway he went into the river.   I was approaching from one direction and a Park Police officer was approaching from the other.  We met at where the guy was, each grabbed an arm and hauled him out.   He was a visitor to our fair city and luckily he was staying at a hotel along the Riverwalk, so did not have too far to go to get back to his room and into some dry clothes.   Good thing because by that time the wind had picked up and was blowing at around 20 to 25 mph.   By the time Gail and I got home the winds were up to 40 mph gusts, sheesh!  Now it is definitely getting colder and our wake-up low in the morning will be 27 degrees, sheesh, and a high tomorrow of only 52.  I am glad I am off  work tomorrow, I can just stay nice and warm, sleep in a little.

Congrats on your miles, bin, sorry about the dim and gloomy weather.  After my run and Gail's walk, we met back at the San Antonio Rivercenter and somehow she manged to find an open Starbucks on Christmas Day and had Hot Chocolate.  What, she didn't get me any?  How wude!  Joking   Actually, I needed water by that time, more than hot chocolate, as much as I was sweating post-run in that 65 degree weather.

Hope you had a great time of resting and feasting, Gustav.   Sorry the foot is not behaving.

Hope your 5 miles went well, Damaris, and the knee is behaving itself.  Yeah, the movies that are out are pretty long.  I saw on a review that the one you watched was nearly 3 hours long.  I much prefer to just wait for them to come to On Demand and then just watch them at my own pace, lol.

Hope you enjoyed the new Saucony shoes, Kristi.

Hope you had a great holiday today, Tori!

Yeah, Robert, too late for me there, lol, all I''ve been doing all day since my run is eat, eat, eat.  I am really going to have to behave the rest of the week  month  year! Joking

Cinammon rolls for breakfast sounds nice, Jerry.  Better than what I had:  a packet of Power Gel, lol.

Running related presents, well, Kristin, my granddaughters sent me colored shoe laces (red, yellow, green, blue) to match all my running outfits, lol.  Non-running related present:  Gail paid for my car repair, what the insurance did not cover, nice!  Well, I guess that could be sort of running-related since I drive to my races and running spots.   Hope you got everything you wanted!

So sorry, Awood, that the knee is not behaving.  Hope the rest helps it!  If not, hope the doc can get you on track to being back to 100%.

Jeff, good luck with the training for your upcoming 10K and hope you make your goal.

Congrats on your miles, Jack!  Sounds like your outing was more  quiet than mine was.

Jackie I think you'll be getting around the same low tomorrow that we will have.  This crazy darn weather just will not make up its mind, hot, cold, hot, cold....no wonder lots of South Texans are wandering around with the sniffles. If you go out tomorrow morning, good luck with that 30-something degree weather!

Family and food is good, Bill, hope you had a great time with both!

Congrats on getting your miles in, Mitch.

Sorry about the illness, Jimmy, and the extra lbs.  Good luck getting back on track again!

                    running is my prozac

hello everyone! hope everyone had a great Christmas.  Ours was really fun because my twins are 2.5 this year and they "GOT IT" and my almost 4 year old gets it too so yeah, totally ripping open gifts. Just very fun. It looks like Toys R us threw up in my house. ugh.

I havent ran in 9 days. I hurt my left shin. I had the beginning of a stress fracture - UGH.  A "stress reaction" not a fracture yet but "changes in the bone"  follow up Appt tomorrow at 10:40  I got it from my last trail run. 50% of the run was on bedrock and because I was protecting my grouchy ITB knee (right side)  whenever I jumped over logs or jumped down from rocks I landed on my left leg and that left leg took a pounding.  It feels good today.  Ive been able to jump on one leg and no pain so will prob have my first run tomorrow after my appt.  Like Jimmy, I have eaten 4376292962 calories per day this whole week and need this run.  BADLY  also this wasnt a bad time to take a break due to Christmas and also my husband and one twin came down with the flu so it would have been impossible to run anyway.

Damaris, I am on team 9. I tried to check my private message, it says I have one from you but when I go there, its emptyConfused What do I need to do?
