Atleast the SPAM has been appropriate. I mean all we've had was sports related SPAM and maybe an occasional one about illegal passports. I mean we could have had "male enhancement" SPAM or "hookup / porn" SPAM. This is G-rated SPAM. For that we should be thankful.

I would be significantly more interested in male enhancement than in streaming the USC/Notre Dame game which happens to be easily viewable on my TV.

Welcome, Sparker!
It will be interesting to see what happens Monday. I mean, they almost have to shut the site down as the spam is 100 pages deep!
Someone else posted that they completely wiped the old forum at Running Times. I have to wonder if that's not coming as well. However, I can also honestly say, I don't care. I like the new home!

I am a little upset but oh well, I guess I will have to get used to this site.

The problem over there (on top of the spam-itself problem) is that this is a holiday weekend and apparently spam intervention requires a metric shit ton of work by Real People who apparently don't have to do any work, much less a metric shit ton of it, on a holiday weekend.
My bet is that stuff calms down by midweek.
Until Christmas.
Incidentally, all that handy stuff that LoveTheHalf posted about spam fighting is pretty interesting.
And isn't done here, or as noted, a few of you would have already gotten the hook.
BTW, as for the "unwelcoming" nature of this place, folks here are super DUPER nice. But they's just folks like you are just folks and they like things their way just like you like things your way. If one of them comes across potentially abruptly, then take a step back and realize that there are certain people in the RWOL community who are AT LEAST as abrupt. And I'm telling you that as a 8ish year poster in BOTH places, not just first impressions. Some people who may come across as assholey aren't trying to do that, and perhaps it comes with the reading. And then again, some ARE. Same on RWOL.

Even without a "number of posts made" and "date joined" to tell us who are the "Big Wigs"', I'm under the impression that there are a few posters here who are considered "Important" and when they post everyone flocks to their threads like lemmings. And tells them how nice and smart and wonderful they are. Oh, and how much they add to the community.
As SRL noted, just like RWOL.
NTTAWWT.
I am not one of those people. However, I do know who those people are, because I flock to their stuff too.
Incidentally, for those who want help with running, there are some really really good people here you were not exposed to at RWOL. One way to know who has done some Great Running is to follow their posts for awhile.
Another way is to peek at stuff in their publicly accessible logs.
There's also Nobby. If/when Nobby posts, LISTEN (well, READ. And listen to the internal narration). He is not a native English speaker... he is Japanese... but he is the man. No bullshit. (and, yes, it is ok to disagree and ask questions w/ Nobby. )

Just to second, but I have been reading through some of the threads outside of the BF stuff, and I really seem to be liking this group.

I think a monkey using an Etch-A-Sketch could figure out the Pluck admin functions better than the RWOL staff.
