Wow, I can't wait until later when I have a chance to read through all of the reports and updates, you guys are awesome & will really keep me on my toes!

Jerry...I'm not very good at gadgets and will probably ask the group for Garmin advice. I'm thinking the Forerunner 110, I believe that's the most basic. Which one are you considering? Are you buying it on-line or in-store, I'm not sure which is best...

Hey Doc...I posted a long rambling Undecided introduction a few days ago. I'd been lurking for months and followed you guys here when you moved from the other place (and I'm glad I did) Big grin

I'm not sure how to connect a link so I did a copy & paste. Run completed so off to do some Christmas shopping! Enjoy the rest of the day!

Jack started us off?  Is Gustav sleeping in today?  Oh, I see...the full body workout must've done him in...Wink
As someone said, Jack, sounds like an awesome day for you.  Busy, but awesome.  Dang, you are speedy, 6:25, sheesh!  Congrats on your race, and awesome socks there!

Gustav, so sorry for your loss, attending funerals is tough.

Congrats on your mileage PR, awood!

Hope your little one stays well, bin!

PADRunner..you are holiday STREAKING?  Won't that get a bit cold in your area?  Maybe in ALL your areas...Joking

      Congrats on your miles, Tweaky.

Happy TM running, Liz!  Hope your on-call weekend is nice and quiet.  I had a bizarre dream about you.  For some reason you were riding nekkid on a horse, but I never did find out why.

Way to go on your 5K, Kristi, and the PR!  Safe trip and enjoyable time in Boston!  Boston...real winter.... BRRR!

well I woke up and it was snowing! YAY! I love the snow.  You, Steph, are nuts!  Wink  Give me 80 degree temps over snow anytime!  I guess I get my wish cuz my 5K this morning was pretty close to 80, it was in the 70s.  Congrats on your winter run!

Dang, Traci, that sucks, the loss of a child is so tragic and so painful.  My heart goes out to your friend.  She may need a support group, that is partly what helped get me back on track.  You never get over something like this, you just learn how to live with it.  There are plenty of groups out there, people who can relate, have her check with her local United Way and other community agencies.   So sorry you are still having leg issues.  I guess you'll just have to take an extreme measure and come for a visit, and let me massage it.  Roll eyes  Wink

Gee, Jerry, you already know you are getting a garmin for Xmas?  Where's the fun in that?  Wink

You have snow also, Lauren?  Shocked   Sorry about the shin issues for you and DH.

      Nice racing, Dave!

Nice prize, Dan, lol.  Was your race up in Dallas as warm as mine was down here in the San Antonio area?  Weird darn weather we're having in Texas the last couple of weeks.

Way to go on your long run, Mitch!  Kara? Is the lovely Kara over here too now?  I miss see that smiling-face avatar of hers.

i ran the Savannah River Bridge Run this morning.  Congrats on your race, Robert!  Didn't Kara do that one too?  PLEASE tell me you got some Great Legs photos of her... Wink

Liz, to answer your question to your reply to my race report:

My all time high was 73 races done last year.  However, if I am able to do all the races I registered for through the end of this year, I will finish this year with 75 races done.

I did it!  I did 6 total miles today, including 2.6 @8:27!  I've never run that fast before on purpose, except for maybe during a 5K race in Sept. that I don't know my splits for.

The pace felt good, not all all like the crushing misery that I felt when I tried to do tempo runs last summer (at slower than my easy pace now, haha!).  But I was sweating buckets!

You might remember the plan was for two mile repeats at that pace.  TMI alert (sorry), but I had to make an emergency pit stop 0.6 into the second one.  So when I came back it seemed like a cop out to just run 0.4 more since the point was to maintain the pace.  So I went ahead and did another mile at that pace.  So things are looking good for the 5K I want to do in 2 weeks!  Except now I have GI issues to add to the things I guess I need to worry about, boo.

Traci- So sorry for your friend.  That is such a terrible loss.

Jerry- I decided to go with the 610.  There was a Black Friday weekend sale on it and I figure if I went with a nice one then hopefully I won't end up wanting yet another one in a few months or a year.

Steph- I know exactly the feeling.  When I'm running slowly and feeling great, I don't worry at all   But there are the runs that seem to take so much effort and I still have a crummy pace, and I hate those.  That's when I really doubt myself as a runner.  Luckily that doesn't happen too often!  And I do think form has a lot to do with it.

Awood- Glad you had a good run with the dog and are still feeling good on the streak!  I'm still scared to do one, even if some days can just be 1 mile.

Lauren- Sounds like a great run today!  I know that the air is dryer in the winter so we probably all should drink more.  And if we're running of course that's even more of an issue.

Dave- Congratulations!!!!  You are one fast penguin!  You made sure to tell second place in your AG that you'd only been running for 8 months, right? Shocked

Liz- I bet you're closer than you know to that pace!  You've added a lot of distance lately and I've stuck to shorter runs.

Dan- Cute penguin prize!  Though maybe not the image you were hoping for after placing in a 2 miler?

Mickey- Congrats on the first one-hour run!  I think my first one was barely 5 miles. Blush

Jack- Holy cow that is a fast mile!  And I love the socks!

            Mitch- Nice run!

Scotty- Congrats on race #69  I'm surprised you avoided the opportunity to point that one out!

Robert- Congrats on the run!  Sorry about the equipment malfunction, though.

I will have to check out the RRs later- see if I can still get a few errands done today.

            Hey Doc

            Feets don't fail me now

              Hey y'all.

i ran the Savannah River Bridge Run this morning.  I ran the 5K leg of the race.  My finish time was 35:52 which I was happy with considering I never run on any kind of hills.  I finished 56/110 in my age group.

this was my first race using my Garmin and somehow I confused it at the start.  It took about 1.5 minutes to start moving from where I lined up at the gun.  There were just shy of 4,000 folks start.  i pressed start at the gun, mistake.  Evidently, it "auto-paused" and didn't move from there.  There was no recorded track when I downloaded it but it says I ran 7 miles????..

Terrific job, Robert!!  I can't help you with the Garmin but that's a terrific time for that race!

Brenda:  Thinking of the Forerunner 10.  Dave had a link to a review.  I'll try to find it and send it to you.

www.dcrainmaker.com I spoke with three runners at the race today who had the FR10, and they all gave it rave reviews.  I tried to talk Santa into giving me mine early, but my request was denied. Sad lol

Zel, I did tell them that I've only been running since April, and one lady said incredulously, "April of this year?!?" LOL They all agreed that I should be able to see some good improvements with more training.

I'm on the iPad at the moment and have already passed my sanity threshold for typing, so I'll do personals when I get on my pc. Smile

                Hey Doc

                Feets don't fail me now

Just got home from emergencies and I really hope I'm here to stay.  It's chilly out there and my last patient was a sweet old horse that has likely been sick for days but the people just got home from vacation.  Among her many symptoms,  she has blowout diarrhea (which means I'm covered) and I had to work in a shed with one lightbulb.   Know how hard it is to practice top quality medicine and save a life with one lightbulb in a 2 sided shed?  Awesome.    I joke with all the spoiled human doctors in my family, who don't understand how I do what I do in the conditions in which I do it, that it's akin to wartime medicine in humans.   One lightbulb in the pitch black freezing cold.

Getting on the treadmill now!  Elf is on tv and it will keep me occupied while I run.  Smile    My first double!

Awood - I picked this race because I wanted to win a penguin.

Dave - You had an awesome race today.

                      Steph - Thanks.

Scott - It was warm here too today. 65 at race time. Mid-80s for a high.

Zelanie - I love the penguin. It is both cute and reminds me on how far I have came in the last year and a half.

That penguin is going to be on my desk Monday.

                        Kristi, congrats on the PR!!!

Steph, yay snow!!! I love snow and I can't wait to run in it.  Sad thing is, we don't get much here, few inches maybe twice all winter.  Oh well, I'll take what I can get.  I'm hoping for snow at the inlaws when we go there for Christmas, then I'll get to run in the snow out in the country! Smile

Zel, outstanding job on those tempo miles!  You're gonna rock that 5k!

Traci, that is so sad, I don't think there's anything harder than losing a child, I can't even imagine, sending good thoughts to your friend.

Lauren, good run!  I'm jealous of you guys getting to run in the snow! Smile

Mickey, great job on the distance PR today!!

                        Mitch, awesome impromptu HM!

Scotty, you're a machine!  Great job! Smile

Robert, awesome job on your 5k!  Hills kick my butt big time.

Dan, you did too!  That penguin award rocks!!
