How far out in advance did you select your marathon training program after registering for your first marathon?

    Thanks!

Have never run a marathon, but I picked my HM training plan before ever registering for a HM.  LOL

I didn't have time to select a training program because I signed up for my first two weeks before the race.

If you've got a good enough base, you can get away with that.

I'm great at procrastinating, but not this time. Wink

I asked the question because I told someone that I had already found the plan I wanted to use and was sort of shocked when they mentioned not even looking at any yet. This person is registered for a first full as well and is certainly not like George.

I ran a 20 miler one day and thought "that's not that bad", that night I signed up for a marathon five weeks out. George is right... if you've got the base you don't need much notice (granted I didn't run very well but I still finished/enjoyed it).
