Hi pens! Shin seems to be better, ran 3.5 easy with a couple of strides today and it was fine.

Where's D at? I finally got my first pair of Lululemon shorts yesterday (thanks to my mommy who still spoils me as an adult :P ), I wanted to hate them but I'm in love! So many pockets, so comfy!

      Nice!

My friend is OK.  It was heat stroke.  She doesn't remember the race or parts of this week, but is expected to be just fine.

Kristin - congratulations on your PR.  I look forward to your RR.

PAD - good job running in the rain.

LRB - still enjoying the high from yesterday?  I would be too.

Tomas - we've missed you.  Welcome back.

Lauren - I'm glad your shin behaved today.  I haven't tried lululemon, but I do love shorts with good pockets.

Mitch - your legs just got tired after all the use/abuse of the past week.  I hope you had fun though.

Amandasmiles - five miles is good, however you do it.

Tracilynn - you didn't quit, you just changed venues, for a while.  Trail running can be easier on the body, because you don't do the same repetitive motions every step.  Each step is a little different.  As a hiker, I learned that flat surfaces made my legs more sore than climbing mountains.  DH hates canals and roadwalks, no matter how easy they are.

Zel - sounds like you had a hot race.  I'm sorry it wasn't a good one for you.  Were you there when your friend had her heat issues?  I hope she's all right now.

Damaris - where did you go?  I hope you enjoyed your rest day.

Stonefence - good job on the 3.

AFM:  a hot day today (80ish).  DH and I took Ben for a hike on the AT.  There were a couple of stream crossings, so Ben got very wet and muddy -- and so did we when he shook.  No leaves on the trees yet, so that sun felt hot.  No snakes here yet, but Ben found an old dead squirrel that he didn't want to give up without a huge fight.  Otherwise it was a lovely walk in the woods.

Congrats, Mitch.  But what went into the beer mug?

Jerry, this one is for you, well, not really, I already drank it.

Ginny, I had a blast! Thanks.

Zel, glad to hear your friend is okay.

I come up on a guy today that was being helped by a friend of mine, she had hold of one of his arms to keep him from falling. I grabbed his other arm, and we escorted him to the next corner where a police officer was. It took us about 2 minutes walking with him to reach the corner. He was having severe quad cramps, his legs were locked up and he was trying to walk with his legs completely stiff. He said he had hydrated and fueled well, so not sure what happened to him. I did hear the ambulance after we left him with the police and volunteers. He probably didn't finish, this was at mile 10.5 or so.
