Friday Penguins - We have Free Admission Today Only! (Read 27 times)

Zelanie

Cheri- Thanks!  It was a fun way to challenge myself without it being all about speed.  Actually, with only a couple of exceptions, our team was mostly made up of slower runners.  But we were consistent, and could step up the mileage when needed!

    GinnyinPA

Damaris - enjoy your intervals.  How much of that 9 is intervals?

StoneFence - did you find anything interesting at the LRS?  Using up a gift card, or trying to get what you hoped for but didn't receive as a present?

Gustav - good job on the marathon pace run.  Either you were having a really good day, or you need to rethink your MP.

      Jack - enjoy your RD.

Mitch - is the tattoo of your grandmother or in honor of her?

Z - enjoy your time in Washington.  Does your SIL have dogs, that she needs a house sitter?  Seems like slow and steady does win the race sometimes.

PADRunner - I hope your recovery is quick and easy.  Why were you under?

Scotty - hope your race goes well and is a lot of fun.  Poor kitty and poor Gail.

Cherie - I'm sorry about your husband's friend.  That is so hard on the family.

AFM:  Beautiful sunny day, 48 degrees, so I went for a longish run, (longest since I began running again).  It wasn't an easy run, though I kept it slow.  I had a hard time breathing and seem to have a lot of congestion, though I don't know if that is from the run or despite the run. I ended up walking a couple of times, which is frustrating, but I did run the bigger hills, and it felt really good to be running in the sun.   I know it's been less than a month that I've been running normally, and I can't expect to get back to where I was right away, but some days I feel like I should be making quicker progress than I am. My head and my lungs don't seem to agree on how fit I actually am right now.

I think around 3 of intervals and 2 of recoveries.  Not sure if I'll get to run today as I have a ton of errands between work and getting home tonight.

        Return To Racing

A little overdressed today.  3.5 "fast" miles.  Hope we can get in a 10 miler tomorrow before winter returns.   Trying to stay in shape for Miami.  Might add on a short cruise.

          From the Internet.

Cherie - that is so sad, my heart goes out to the family Sad

Vet appointment for the kitties today - my little gray cat is fine but the tortoiseshell in my avatar has an upper respiratory infection and abscessed tooth that will need to be removed :c Trying to scrape together money for the cost of the dental work, it's scheduled for the end of January but the vet was very understanding and said that I can reschedule the appointment and take her in for periodic antibiotic shots to keep things at bay if I need more time to find funds. I'd obviously much rather have it taken care of ASAP but I have no clue where I'm going to get ~$6-800 right now.

Channeled my stress into 4.7 miles on the treadmill while watching an episode of Mad Men. Will definitely be able to hit 20 miles this week but I think I'm going to be sore on Monday.

No run today, but I did stand in long return lines so hopefully that counts for something. I ran the past 3 days in a row, and should probably do calisthenics today instead, and then beck to running tomorrow. Just trying to keep the legs happy and injury free Smile Won't lose weight this week, I bet, because of DW's homemade Christmas cookies. My arm still hurts from where she twisted it.
              PADRunner

PADRunner - I hope your recovery is quick and easy.  Why were you under?

I had a colonoscopy. Got 2 of my fastest miles in this afternoon. Guess I need to do that more often.

Wow, who would have figured it would be so costly.    Your poor baby, I hope you're able to get it taken care of soon.

Ginny-- you such a tenacious person,  you're going to get back there, just maybe not as quick as you'd like.  Glad you at least had nice weather.  Were you feeling ill before you started running? Usually if i'm a bit congested before a run, running will help open everything up.  I end up feeling better unless there's a lot of pollen and stuff in the air.

Jerry-- Oh I hope you are able to add a cruise!  How fun.

OFS-- ohhh, yum @ the cookies.  This time of year is so bad for the weight.  There are just way too many treats around our house for sure.

Yikes!  If that's what it takes I think I'd opt for slower miles!  Good job on your fast miles though ;-)

Thanks everyone for your kind words.

PAD - thank you for taking care of yourself. Health screenings are no fun sometimes, but it's the right thing to do

Only 2.5 miles last night to stretch my legs a little. New shoes felts awesome! A little too awesome, though, because my feet were moving faster than my lungs wanted! Been running and run/walking for a year but can't alway get the legs, lungs, and head all in sync. Guess that's a good reason to keep trying

                    I can. I will. I am.

                    on my way to badass

We got socks at LRS.  I was hoping to score a few more pairs of thin wool socks that were in my stocking, but they were sold out of my size.  I got a 3 pack of Balegas.  I also took my Garmin in because I had a little bit of fogging when it was really cold out.  They called up Garmin and I found out that I needed to wear it next to my skin to keep it warm.

Still waiting for the perfect race picture. 5K PR-33:52 , 10K PR 1:11:16, First HM 2:42:28

Hi everyone.  It's been busy around here since Christmas Eve, but my parents left today so things are calmer now.

5+ miles yesterday, 4+ today.  If tomorrow goes as planned it should be a good week for mileage.

Ginny, I felt exactly that way when I was rebuilding over the summer. It just feels like so much work and not so much reward when you're just trying to get back to where you were. It was only right before my HM that I started being able to have new accomplishments instead of trying to recapture old ones. But it does happen.

SIL has an old grumpy dog and a new puppy, which is where our services will come in handy. But we are trying to treat it like a vacation. Smile Plus on Sunday, we have a vet appointment for our dog Zoe to get a second opinion about her back.

Z - Those faster paces will come back quickly. Mine paces are back up to par this week after going through months of slowing it down because of injures.

I did 3.8 tonight. That puts me at 15 for the week with a 5 or 6 mile run on Sunday. I am very pleased with this week. The first pain free week since October.
