Fear is a Liar

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails!

What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges."

It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

Bin - ugh, sorry about the long workday, that stinks.  Isn't your half on Sunday?   It's okay to take a rest day!! Smile

AFM: SRD.  Starting a 3 day weekend of on-call so it will be all treadmill for me next few days!

            Have a great day!

            Liz

6 miles total. Mostly intervals. 800 m hard, 400 easy (repeated 6 times). Short warm up and cool down. This gave me my 2nd month with over 100 miles. This month I was even off a week on the IR. Tonight we have a football game in san antonio against a pretty good team. Should be a good game. I hope it's boring. Because we beat pretty bad Smile Tomorrow we are headed to sea world. Weather should be nice. Make today great Tomas

                Barking Mad To Run

First day back to work yesterday after vacation, so did a lot of catching up, didn't get out of work until late.  So went home instead of running at the campus.  But it was such a nice night - 65 degrees, low humidity - that I got my gear on after getting home and went out and did a 3.5 mile hill route.   Today is a rest day and tomorrow morning in San Marcos, Texas, I have race #69 for 2012.

Thanks for starting us off Gustav!  I like watching karaoke, but not doing it...I really have a terrible singing voice...frogs croaking in the night sing better than me.

Good luck with your race tomorrow, Dave.

Ugg, shift work.  Get some rest, bin!

Happy treadmilling, Liz.  Hope you have a quiet on-call weekend.

Football game in San Antonio?  Who are you playing, Tomas?  Weather should be nice, it's very pleasant here now for a few days.  Will be near 80 for this weekend. Congrats on your intervals.

Enjoy your SRD, Brenda.  And nice to meet you.  I am the 'family dog' of The Colony, lol.

                        His Slowness

Good morning Penguins.  Gustav you're getting good at this.  Did 2.3 this morning and really felt old, fat, and tired.  I guess it beats a lot of the alternatives.  Off to the first meeting of the day!

                          Happy Friday!

I will look into that and see If the boss (DW) is interested in doing that before sea world.

As part of the 2024 London Marathon, I am fundraising for VICTA, a charity that helps blind and visually impaired children. My mentor while in law school, Jim K (a blind attorney), has been a huge inspiration and an example of courage and perseverance. Please consider donating.
