She Can- the funny thing is, it wasn't even a bar in NYC! We were at a wedding in a small town up in Connecticut at the hotel bar after the reception and there he was!

What?  I bought the Elixirs and within 4 miles I used them for a marathon.  You won't feel sorry.  Race in them already?

I just realized I didn't fully answer the QOTT:

I have 2 pairs of Mizuno Wave Inspires that I do most of my miles in. They are diffeent colors and the way I rotate them is simple: which matches what I'm wearing. The Wave Elixirs are my new race shoes, but I have not raced in them yet. Been wearing them for one run per week til I'm used to them.

You ran 5 miles with crud in your lungs, Vance?  You are Iron Man!  Hope the crud clears up quick!

Sorry about the calf, Bin, hope that resolves quickly!

Long days for you, Mitch!  I'm sure the legs will appreciate the rest!

        Enjoy your rest day, Kristin.

Heck yeah that's cross-training, Awood!  That's a lot of work!  Good luck!

Congrats to you and DW on your LR, Jerry!

Enjoy the rest day, Tomas.  Lots of us resting today!

Damaris, you have become a morning runner now?  Congrats on your miles!

Glad your test run was successful, Z!  Hope that trend continues!

Enjoy your day off of work, HsM!  I had Friday off but I didn't enjoy it - I had a biopsy...Sad...now I just have to wait a few days for the result.  My arm hurts where the Dermatologist was digging in...

        Mmmmm...beer

10.2 miles done.  Gonna try to keep it nice and easy this week and get my mileage back up.

I have decided to not try to qualify for Boston in Sept and then run Boston next year.  For a couple of a different reasons, physical and financial.  I think that I could have a good chance at qualifying this year, but I think that it would be better for me to stick to my original plan.  Keep base building over the summer, then start training in November for the Shamrock marathon in March, hopefully qualify and then run Boston in 2015.  This would also allow more time to save money for Boston, if I go, I want to be able to enjoy it and not worry about whether or not I should buy the $100 jacket (cause you know damn well I'm gonna buy that jacket lol).  I know that I don't really need to explain myself, but I just wanted to throw that out there in case anyone was wondering why I wasn't starting the Pfitz program next week.

I'm still going to bring in some tempos and intervals, but my focus will be on solid base building for the next six months and then be in a good position to start marathon training.

Ginny, I actually like running in the rain when it's warm out.  Today wasn't bad, about 60*, lil breeze, was fine once I got moving.  I always make sure I have my contacts in if it's raining, and wear a visor.  I have some great neighborhoods to run through, there's sidewalks, but I prefer to stay on the street (less trip hazards), but the streets are wide and I haven't had any problems with traffic, so that's good.

          Barking Mad To Run

Good luck with your miles this evening, Jimmy!

Congrats on the 5K FFboy, and way to get your friend to a PR!

Congrats on your miles, Coralie, sorry about the knee, though.

Must be nice, SheCan, to be able to have 6.5 feel 'easy'.  I am trying to get back to that point myself.

            As for my shoes:

Asics Nimbus works best for me.  I have:

            Nimbus 14 - blue-and-white /blue laces

            Nimubs 14 - blue-and-white w/red laces

Nimbus 14 - multicolor (my 'clown" shoes)

            Nimbus 14 - orange/black

            Nimbus 14 - Lime/Neon Green

Nimbus 13 -  Black w/Yellow trim and yellow laces

            Asics Enduro for trail running

Aside from ASICS, I also have a pair of Saucony Trigon Response - a now discontinued shoe, but I haven't used these yet, still a bit too heavy for them. They are my 'weight loss goal shoe" lol.  And I have a pair of New Balance 991s - heavier shoe I used when I was fatter.  Don't use these very often anymore. They only have about 100 miles on them.     And I have a brand new pair of ASICS Kayanos, size 9.5M, sitting on the shelf gathering dust.  I was a tester for them and they were SO not right for my feet.  They have about 30 miles on them.  Anyone here who is size 9.5  and wears kayanos?

Nope.  I cannot get to work late every day and only run 5 miles.  It's just temporary while I go to the doctor, get the allergy shot, etc., in the morning.  On Wednesday, I get to do it again since I have to go to the orthodontist to fix my loose retainer.

BTW, Mr. docket now owns three pairs of running shoes, Brooks Ghost 5, Defiance and Glycerin.

Does he use them. I know someone who has several nice shoes in the closet that collect dust.

                Skirt Runner

I'm nervous about them being less supportive than my Inspires. I am an overpronator. So I want to make sure they give me no issues. I've done 3 runs with them and no problems...maybe 4 so it is time! I planned to wear them for my 4/21 5K but then I wanted to wear Boston colors blue and yellow...the Elixirs are bright pink but I have blue Inspires so went with those.

What?  I bought the Elixirs and within 4 miles I used them for a marathon.  You won't feel sorry.  Race in them already?

                  Sloooow.

N-Bug- Glad Spring has finally decided to show it's face for you! Hope the crud clears its way out quickly

                    Bin- Keep rollin' rollin' rollin'!

Hog4Life- Sorry about the long shifts, I hope time passes quickly. I'm sure your legs will appreciate the rest days.

Kristin- Enjoy your rest day! It's pretty surprising how many people have asked me about my 5K marathons. I guess even as a none-runner, I'd always hear a bunch about the London Marathon so I knew what the distance was.

Awood- Glad to hear you are taking precautions with the masks! I'd definitely count it as cross training. If you decide to get a short run in, make sure to take it easy. Dry wall dust is a PITA.

                    Jerry- Rest easy!

Tomas- Have a nice rest day Smile

Jack- Very nice work on your HM, now, rest! Congratulations!

Docket- Good work on the 5, hope it's nothing to serious that got you to the doctors?

Dave- Hope your 10 miles go well and you don't get too waterlogged!

Zelanie- Glad your 1 mile went well, fingers crossed for your 2 miles tomorrow.

HopesMom- You're doing great on your walking program! I love that you have your whole plan worked out for months, that's the kind of thing I do.

Jblack- Good luck on your run tonight! Sucks when you get sidelined by the weather.

Fitfatboy- My terrible memory has me forgetting your given name. Very nice thing to do pacing your friend, and what an amazing PR for him too! That's a great improvement. Hope your 5 goes well!

Ginny- I'm sure your 4-6 will go great. I find it difficult to find women's shoes in my size, so I wear mens shoes. I just have gigantic feet, lol.

Cherie- Enjoy the runs in the nice weather, while it lasts. Thanks for the comment, too. I just get down on myself sometimes. I feel like my cardio is way beyond how my body is limiting me, so it bugs me. I just need to keep focusing on the 64 lbs that I am down from my highest weight.

Scotty- You sure had a busy weekend! I loved reading your race reports Smile Rest easy today, you earnt it!

Took the kids to a birthday party on Saturday, and just saw on Facebook her kids tested positive for strep this morning. Argh!

                    SheCan

Scotty---"Must be nice, SheCan, to be able to have 6.5 feel 'easy'.  I am trying to get back to that point myself."  Well, sometimes I say easy when I'm simply not pushing myself too hard.  Sometimes those easy miles actually feel easy and sometimes not so much.

Ginny- "Cherie - I love spring in the desert, but you're right, once May arrives, so does the heat.  Do you still run outdoors, or do you move to the TM?"  I generally run outside because i don't own a TM, but occasionally will drive over to the gym when it gets too warm, and do a road run + TM run.  But as uncomfortable as our summers are, they're much more mild than in Phx or Tucson.  Usually July is really nice & cool because of the monsoons, though it warms up again in Aug.  My biggest motivation-sucker is that the warm weather goes on seemingly forever.

Coralie--"  Enjoy the runs in the nice weather, while it lasts. Thanks for the comment, too. I just get down on myself sometimes. I just need to keep focusing on the 64 lbs that I am down from my highest weight."  Yeah, I know, it is easy to get stuck on those things that aren't working, but Wow@64 lbs.  That is wonderful and you will get where you want to be.  Plus we all adore you in here, and think you're doing great.

                          One Half So Far

Hey folks.  Got through another day of teaching yay!

I have one pair of New Balance 880 v.2 shoes.  When they get to 400, I'll buy another.  I'm hampered by the fact I wear size 15 shoes and don't really have anyplace I can try shoes on.

RD for me today.  Did 6.75 yesterday.

Mitch, 14 hours is tough.. Your leg will thank you later for that RD.

Kristin, Hi-five.. Enjoy the RD.. Hope you like Elixirs as a race shoes.

Awood, looks like quality X-training there.. Hope you got it all fitted in time..

                              Jerry, Enjoy the RD..

Tomas, those recovery definately helps..  I am so late to this recovery run thingy..

Jack, of cos the headband works.. haa.. Happy that you are able to meet your goal.. Sub 1:40 is within touch..

Damaris, 30 pairs of running shoes?!! wow!

Dave, Was anxious able your 1st FM but building base for 1 more year is a good decision.. Can't wait to see how you will perform..

Mel, so far retired Nike at 300 and Inspires at 400.. I think I should be able to rotate at 450-500 once my speed picked up a bit.. Heard somewhere it is the time on the shoes rather than the miles.. But mileage is a pretty good gauage too.

                              Hopesmom, come back strong!

Jimmy, having withdrawal shows that you are a runner..haa..

Sam, good job in pacing your friend to his PR.. I am trying to get on some lower heel drop shoes myself but still waiting.. I have no problem reunning is DS trainer which is 10mm compare to 12-13 for inspires..

Ginny, Enjoy the TM.. Maybe you will have more luck buying online? Only bad thing is that you can't tried it.. But a few online store has pretty good return policy.

Coralie, Hope the knee pains clears soon. Finger cross for no Strep..

Cherie, How hot does it get at where you are? Good work on the 6.5

Scotty, that's a lot of Nimbus.. Harry potter has a Nimbus 2000 too.. ;P I am sure you are a wizard yourself too..

                              Jeff, Enjoy the RD..
