Yea I am doing a swim clinic with the tri club next Tuesday. It appear my breathing is my major issue, so I am going to work on that, I might do some small interval days to work on my breathing next week, just some quick 1000's where I do breathing. Last week I did that with sighting, making sure I could sight something I put on the wall everytime I took a breath.
Diz, have you ever gone to any swim clinics or tried to find any tri-club practices? Mostly those folks are very welcoming and have a lot of knowledge. You shouldn't have to "come up for air" or lift your head. You should be breathing to the side when your body rolls as a natural part of the stroke with no interruption in the stroke rhythm for breathing. Bilateral breathing on every 3rd stroke is the ideal way to learn, then adjust as necessary during a race. Your legs will drop automatically if you lift your head out of the water, especially if you lift it to the front. So learning proper breathing technique will also help prevent the legs dropping. Lots of youtube videos available on proper form and this is also a great site for swimming information. http://swimsmooth.com/

Ric-G: Will do, promise! Nice job on the run today!
Kay: Fantastic run. You so are getting comfy going faster than 10:00, which is huge!! Woot, woot!!!!
SIAR: You are knocking out some serious mileage, for sure, and having some pretty incredible runs. Keep up the great work!
Dan: Wow - that is a huge 5K! I can't imagine!!!
LRB: Completely. Love this - "Like, if you're not being x-rayed or in physical therapy, it must be working." So true, right????

SIAR, awesome run with repeats.
sirdizzy, great swim.
Kay, brava! I'm proud of the progress you're making.
I'm done for today. Push-ups. Ab work. Three miles on the TM with my new Altra Intuition 1.5s. I love the feel of the shoes. Instead of running an easy three miles at 5.2mph (11:32), I ran two miles at 5.2mph (11:32), .50 miles at 5.3mph (11:19), .25 miles at 5.4mph (11:06), and .25 miles at 5.5mph (10:55). It was a breeze. I felt feather light. I'm still unsure about using them for the marathon. I'll test them and my Saucony ProGrid Ride 5s on marathon-pace runs next week.

Heidi - I am leaning toward the smaller one. I should be top 5 in the smaller 5k. It depends on how my tourture sessions go for the next two weeks.

An easy 4 for me tonight, and I am going to try and enjoy it as best I can, today has been stressful. This weekend I have my 10 miler
*Do It For Yourself, Do It Because They Said It Was Impossible, Do It Because They Said You Were Incapable*
PRs
5k - 24:15 (7:49 min/mile pace)
10k - 51:47 (8:16 min/mile pace)
15k -1:18:09 (8:24 min/mile pace)
13.1 - 1:53:12 (8:39 min/mile pace)
26:2 - 4:14:55 (9:44 min/mile)
A little more than 2 for me today. It was supposed to be a bit of a shake-out run before my 10k on Sunday, but I worked from home today so ended up taking my kids to the park as part of the run. In the end it was about a mile of pushing 80 extra pounds uphill to the park, playing for a here there, then going bacanother's the second mile. With the stroller I probably only ran about 2/3 of it too while walking the other part, but it was a fun afternoon.
Hope everyone enjoys the evening!
SRD for me. I picked up my bib today for my HM tomorrow. The weather is supposed to be just about perfect -- 55 degree with a only a light breeze. Now just need to remember to set the alarm for tomorrow morning, so I don't oversleep it.
Damaris -- the weather seems to be cooperating for you as well -- good luck this weekend!
Life is good.
I don't think there's a snowballs chance in a hot skillet that you'll oversleep it...but just in case, yeah, set the alarm lol!
Good luck!
Well it's winter again, 26 degrees, feels like 16. Had to go back to the smartwool gaitor & double gloves.
But this time I will report weather AND pace, because I'm kind of geeked about it. Decided to get out of my everything-at-a-medium-pace rut, and kick it up a notch.
Ran 8.34 miles at 7:45 pace -- I have never done >8 mi at <8 mpm before. Cranked it up at the end -- mile 7 @ 7:23, mile 8 @ 7:06.
So this is what if feels like to push yourself! Not wonderful actually, definitely sucking wind at the end, but legs feel great.
Yoga tomorrow, then a nice LR Sunday. Just gotta remember to take that one slow...

Trying to find some more hay to restock the barn
Yes, if you look at it, it's now in the 30s (feels like). At this pace, I might have to run in a parka, LOL.
Good luck!!!!!!

I ran 6 recovery miles in the rain. Well, in the drizzle (what you guys consider showers, maybe 1" of standing water).

LRB - Fast looking shoes!
RMTB - Good luck with the MP. That's a fast pace.
SIAR - That's some sick mileage. You have some great race times coming up.
Blue - Good luck tmw!
5.7 @ 7:57. I'll likely push my longer run to Sunday and do another shorter run tomorrow due so I don't have to wake up before 5:00.
I do that all the time. I hate waking up at 4-5am to run on the weekends. I'm like a zombie.

I usually like to get the long run out of the way on Saturday, just in case it doesn't happen then I still have Sunday to fall back on. But it's just been so nice out this week that I want to enjoy the longer run during daylight.
