Yes! It was probably towards 5-600 meters, exactly a lull. It forced me to snap to attention like "hey, there's no reason to slow down right now, hurry up"
I get it every time dammit, it does not last long but those are precious seconds slipping away. The day I rid myself of that brief lull is the day I cream my PR!
Fucking mile. Exquisitely painful. Sub 5:00. Something I will never accomplish. I owe you a beer or three if we ever meet.
Short term goal: 17:59 5K
Mid term goal: 2:54:59 marathon
Long term goal: To say I've been a runner half my life. (I started running at age 45).
race obsessed
Nice one Jay and with the recent injury, impressive.
I think, next year I will go into 5k and shorter race distances and see how I do. With luck maybe I'll join you in the sub 5 area.
No more marathons
Hell, I'd love to go sub 6 again. Did 6:10 in a time trial early June and have been hobbled ever since with IT Band issues.
In my younger days I never quite made sub 5 on the track (had a couple 5:03's) - had one road mile at 4:57, but who knows if the distance was correct.
I'll have to be content knowing that a 6:22 at my age is an age graded 4:49. Hope to get that and better at the NC Senior games at the end of September.
Boston 2014 - a 33 year journey
Lordy, I hope there are tapes.
He's a leaker!

Nice job! I can't even fathom running that fast. My all-out sprint isn't even that fast
