Heidi- Sounds like you found your limit. That's a GOOD thing. Now you know you're training right at the edge of your ability and don't have to wonder where you "really" stand right now.
Ooh, I forgot to brag about my 3 "More Miles Than Degrees" points.
Almost made it all worthwhile!

SIAR - That is a kick-azz way to finish a kick-azz week! Sweet!
RMTB - I agree with SIAR. You are obviously making big gains, even if today wasn't quite where you want. It's still plain progress.Dan - Congrats on the PR!
To those under the weather - Feel better soon.
To those resting - Enjoy.
To those running - Great job!
5 mile recovery run for me, just to enjoy the sunshine. It was about 10* warmer than yesterday, but with the wind still felt like 9*. Sunshine makes it all worthwhile, though.
20,000 miles behind me, the world still to see.
Great runs everyone. I had my 10k this morning. Weather was cold, but not hideously so and I actually like it a bit on the cool side. I originally hoped just to match my PR from last year of 59:48. And running the first three in about the right pace for that (9:30-9:45) I tucked myself into a slightly faster group at the turn around and just told myself to keep up. Last 3 miles were 9:03, 8:54, and 8:24 for a finishing time of 57:04 and a 9:09 pace! Of course, now I'm kicking myself a bit for not finding a way to shave off those last four seconds, but overall I'm happy with it.

WOW! Almost a 3 minute PR - that's huge!! You were smart in adjusting your strategy based upon how good you felt and hooking on with the faster crowd to finish strong. Congratulations on a GREAT race!
Guess I picked a bad day to run the lake. Got attacked by dogs twice, the second time I got bitten. Owners didn't have their damn dogs on leashes and the dude whose dog bit me tried to tell me it was my fault because I didn't give him enough time to get his dog on a leash. Right.
SIAR, thanks for the kind words. The weight training wasn't the warmup I'd hoped. (I did only one set of each exercise.)
Robert, bravo on another 20+mile week!
DCDan78, congratulations on your PR!
Shari, sweet recovery run.
I'm longing for a day when the sidewalks and roads will be free of snow and ice.

Ha!
Shake your head Dan. You ran a great race!
Congrats on the PR!
Boo. How's the quad?

Hi, guys! Sorry for being late in posting but (1) I had a marathon this morning, then (2) had to send my dad some money and do some errands, and (3) being watching movies with DH.
My marathon went really well. I was freezing during most of it because the wind was at 23mph and the low 40s and that felt super cold. I PRd but I know the PR would've been bigger had I not had a headwind for most of the way. I'll try to do an RR soon.

As part of the 2024 London Marathon, I am fundraising for VICTA, a charity that helps blind and visually impaired children. My mentor while in law school, Jim K (a blind attorney), has been a huge inspiration and an example of courage and perseverance. Please consider donating.

Trying to find some more hay to restock the barn
Quad still hurts. It is more of an annoying little pain. I am pretty sure it is just a muscle strain. It affects my gait. Since it affects my gait, it causes my knee to hurt the day after I run.
I am taking off running until around Wednesday. At that point I will reevaluate.
Yikes, Dan! I hope that your quad stops bothering you soon.
Scott, congratulations on your long run!
Damaris, congratulations! I'm looking forward to your RR.
After the gym and brunch, I stopped by my LRS and splurged on this.
Great...now my calf is cramping up like there's no tomorrow. I shouldn't have gone running today. ugh.
