I used that app and it said mine was 58,58,59 for me.
I used it on my 4 year old and it said 95. I looked up the average rate for 3-5 year olds and it said 80-110 beats so it seems accurate

I tried the heart rate app for the droid and it's a cool little toy. Kind of squirrely though. My finger and a clock seems to be a pretty accurate gauge.

True story: I once spent the night in a hospital and while I was sleeping, a nurse walked in to check on me. Apparently, my heart rate was 32 when she looked. She was about to wake me up in a panic but another nurse who knew my case told her I was a runner and thus that it was normal for me.
