My 15 Minutes of Fame (Read 100 times)

Love the Half

Wait, you run hurdle races? That's hard core

Low hurdles.  Very low hurdles.  The last time I tried hurdling something was 15 miles into a long run.  It was a dog.  I failed and ended up slamming my forearm onto a concrete driveway at which point I had two thoughts which were separated by mere milliseconds.  In this order.

    1.  I think I just broke my damn arm.

    2.  Better stop my time.

    Short term goal: 17:59 5K

    Mid term goal:  2:54:59 marathon

Long term goal: To say I've been a runner half my life.  (I started running at age 45).

That is a great picture of you.

Usually his pics scare the bejeezus out of me, but that one is not that bad.

"...and he's completed four marathons, including one Boston Marathon and one sub-three hour marathon."

So LtH, you place a greater importance on the marathon than shorter distances after all.  Otherwise your 5 and 10k exploits would have been listed, yes?  Or was there not enough ink in the bottle to write all of that?

        on my way to badass

          Very inspiring!

Still waiting for the perfect race picture. 5K PR-33:52 , 10K PR 1:11:16, First HM 2:42:28

Nice way to get your 15 minutes.  Famous, not infamous.

                  Congrats LTH. Great article.

Come on, you know those readers won't understand the great accomplishment of a 5k. I'm pretty sure you've had several people tell you that a 10k should be easy for you when they ask you about your next race and you tell them it's a 10k.

                    Very nice.

Heh, heh.  That is indeed one of those five dollar singlets.  I bought 10 of them to go with the 5 I'd bought the last time they were on sale.  I won't have to buy another for a decade.  Last night, the Charleston Distance Run expo had previous year's shirts on sale for 2 for 5 dollars.  These are long sleeve tech shirts so I bought 4 of them.  I have to be a cheap bastard with my clothes to justify what I spend on shoes.

makes you wonder how many overweight (and/or smokers) out there have natural talent but will never know it because they won't get off the couch.

It's a great story and you are proof that there is always more inside of us than we think. And now I can say that I know someone famous!
