Are we there, yet?
Not rejected! Just not selected. Totally different. ;-)
Or dejected, also not the same as rejected.
2024 Races:
03/09 - Livingston Oval Ultra 6-Hour, 22.88 miles
05/11 - D3 50K 05/25 - What the Duck 12-Hour
06/17 - 6 Days in the Dome 12-Hour.
Well said. I'm sorry, Julie. Think of all the money you just saved! :-) I imagine that 2015 will be easier to get in. The cancelled race of 2012 affected the number of people wanting in the race this year. It should be back to normal next year, with better odds.
PRs: Boston Marathon, 3:27, April 15th 2013
Cornwall Half-Marathon, 1:35, April 27th 2013
18 marathons, 18 BQs since 2010
I hope no one ever gets dejected for not being selected for a race. It is not worth it!
Basya, Israel sounds fabulous. What was the weather like this year the day of the race?
Sorry for those that were not selected. I was rejected in my first try. Keep trying!

As part of the 2024 London Marathon, I am fundraising for VICTA, a charity that helps blind and visually impaired children. My mentor while in law school, Jim K (a blind attorney), has been a huge inspiration and an example of courage and perseverance. Please consider donating.

True, but can we say that not being selected leads to a feeling of rejection and thus a state of dejection?
Objection, your honor! The lottery is a random process, so those not chosen have not been rejected, merely not selected. This can lead to a feeling of dejection, i.e. sadness, but should not lead to a feeling of rejection.
I stand corrected Sir. And now feel dejected for your astute rejection of my suggestion of ones emotional state resulting from not being selected.
Is there an injection you can take for that?
No, but the manner in which they conduct their lottery may force an insurrection.
What is going on, here? Is this another fish thread?
Interesting conjecture.
Lily, it was in the low 70sF, sunny, dry, and without a cloud in the sky.
Sounds like great weather to me. I've always preferred a little warm rather than too cold.
