Barking Mad To Run

This is the second day at work without AC.  I am starting to get dizzy.

    And you're not even blonde.

Dang, with your temps down there, I can't imagine not having A/C!  They need to let y'all work from home till that gets fixed!

D - Surfer's path is supposed to be fast course -- that, and the scenic aspects, were why I wanted to run it!

          Life is good.

Fingers crossed we get Easter chicks!

Your stories are great, hopefully there are pics someday.

Thanks, OOTB.  I have not raced a HM in ages, so looking forward to that one.

They let us go and we closed the office at 3:15pm.  Too late, IMO.

9 miles, incl. 5x800 @ 6:47 mpm  (3:23) with 400m jog, average pace 8:09. I am still struggling with my speed intervals. Now bath, then supper.

7 miles done.  Ran it outside.  I felt sorry to be outside for the first 3 miles since it was above 90F but fortunately, it went down to 85F by the end.  With the dehydration from the office lack of AC and windows, my HR was a bit high but I did OK.

Your running schedule is forcing you to struggle it is not you.  They are a lot easier (ease being relative) coming off of an off day or short mileage day.

For now, just give it what you have on any given day.

Thanks. :-) I try to tell myself that, that I just need to do my best, nothing else I can do... But I follow the plan and it says I should in theory be rested after yesterday's recovery day (10 miles, but whatever...). Also, I don't get why a 6:40 pace doesn't come easy to me. It's supposed to be my 5k pace according to McMillan, but I don't think it is (and don't ask me to go run a 5k, I'm terrified to find out how slow it will be). It just irritates the hell out of me.

6.2 miles in 1:01:10. 9:52 pace. I was too bored keeping it steady, so I did this:

                        0:00 to 40:00 - 6.0mph (10:00)

                        40:00 to 45:00 - 6.1mph (9:49)

                        45:00 to 50:00 - 6.2mph (9:40)

                        50:00 to 55:00 - 6.3mph (9:31)

                        55:00 to 60:00 - 6.4mph (9:22)

                        60:00 to 61:10 - 6.5mph (9:13

I also did one set of fifteen reps of each weight-training and ab exercise, plus thirty push-ups.

                          Good evening everyone,

I had all day meetings at work and had to go back for an evening meeting, so I made it a rest day. DH and I did a group run yesterday and the steepest hill of my upcoming half was on the course. I had no trouble getting up the thing (that was not the case for a lot of folks), so that bodes well.

DH is cooking dinner, and I'm in stretchy pants. It's wine-thirty. Ahhhhh.

Also, I don't get why a 6:40 pace doesn't come easy to me. It's supposed to be my 5k pace according to McMillan...

5k pace is not only difficult to dial up during training, but difficult to sustain.  You have to remember you are essentially racing at that point during those intervals.

Some days I just do not have it at all, other days I get in the ballpark (4 or 5 seconds off) and every now and again I will nail it for the duration of the interval.  I have never nailed it for the duration of the interval and each interval however, while I have with tempo and marathon pace.

Having said that I do not think it is absolutely imperative to nail training paces every single time out because if you are you are either training below your ability or having an incredible workout.
