Good Morning Sunday Penguins! (Read 34 times)

Fear is a Liar

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." WinkIt can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

    Fear is a Liar

      Good Morning !

Rest day for me today. Saved about $300 by replacing the radiator in my wife's car by doing it myself - one project down for the weekend.

Good luck to Mitch and Damaris !

Gustav, handyman! I can't imagine me being abt to change one myself.

Ran 10.5M today. Finally, beat the sleeping monster. Sort of anyway. Alarm goes off at 7am and I managed to pull my lazy bum out of bed at 730am. Still plenty gloomy and was hit by some drizzle.

Caved in and bought a pair of asics at RW. Ok, a short and 2 pair of socks. HaHaa

Good luck to Mitch and Damaris.

        Barking Mad To Run

Taking the car to get my oil changed this morning and then Gail and I will go to the park later today.  Will be a beautiful day in San Antonio today, sunny and 70 or so degrees.

Nice on the radiator, Gustav.  If you lived closer to me, I'd pay you to change my oil, lol.  I am definitely no handy-person, I can' even draw a line straight with a ruler or put in a nail without bending it.  My wife says the only tool I should ever use is the yellow pages, lol.

          Congrats on the run, Bin!

OK, back now that I've had some breakfast and coffee.

Today I am making a lasagna "supper" for the robotics team, plus I will run 3 recovery miles with the dogs.  That will be my 5th day in a row running, plus I have a LR tomorrow, so we will see if I am at the point where recovery run days work as well as RDs when I need them to.  And if I have the self-discipline to run them slowly enough that they really are recovery miles!

Gustav- Great job with the radiator!  Neither of us are handy enough to do much work on the cars ourselves.

Bin- You are a serious shopper!  How many pairs of unworn shoes is that?  Smile  Good job getting up for your run this AM!

Scotty- Sounds like a lovely day!

                    Awood, Traci- Good morning!

                      Way to go Mitch.

I knocked out 7 miles on a "trail run" in my in-laws pasture this am.

                          Hi pens

I am on the phone in Zion. DW and I finished our big hike! It turned out to be 18 miles. We treated ourselves to a big burger, fish tacos, and beer for dinner. I really craved the protein. Today we are going up Angels Landing, another great hike. Google it if you're bored. I will try to get some pictures later in the week. I don't know how on the phone. If anyone wants to play Scramble with friends, my username is B. Sacamano. That is one thing I can do on the phone!!

                          hog: great run!!!

Morning. well actually afternoon, here at least...it's 12:10 EST.

                            woohoo Mitch!

1.5 recovery paced miles this morning. Had 1 on the schedule but the path on the way out for my planned .5 mile out and back was reallllly icy so I decided to do a 1.5 mile loop instead. Besides with the windchill it was 20 degrees....wanted to make it more worth the time spent bundling up. If I was home I would have probably made it a gym day and done the TM but at my boyfriend's I don't have that option. Hope the .5 extra mile for the week is fine lol....the ITB held up and I'm happy to have succesfully completedmy first week back on a regular running/training schedule, and ran 4 days this week for the first time!

Just a quick post to say that I can still walk, barely. No, just kidding! I finished in 1:51:33 as Zel posted. That's a huge PR of like 10 minutes. Things were hurting pretty bad around the 9.5-12 range. I thought I was fading quite badly, but after looking at my Garmin splits, I was hanging in there okay. I'll get a RR up and more details later, thanks everyone for all the encouragement and support.

Jack, the Ryan Hall 10 week half plan is schweeeeet!
