What's up, Wednesday Penguins? (Read 22 times)

Zelanie

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!).

Hey everyone!  I am going to head out in a bit for 11 with 8 at GMP.  Then it will be time to head downtown to pay the "exit tax" that everyone has to pay to leave by air.  Most people pay at the airport, but with a big group, it's better to do in advance.

Morning, Penguins!!  I'm back here at work, trying to remember how I do this crazy stuff.  It was an awesome staycation, though, with some much-needed housecleaning, a visit from my folks, and the all-time high of cleaning out my closet and taking a bunch of stuff to Goodwill.  And I achieved the ultimate vacation goal yesterday morning ... I couldn't figure out what day it was!!  I might start walking for half an hour during "lunch" here at work, and then walk at home with DH on the days we can.  It's just too easy to bail when I get home and I'm tired, so hopefully at least this will get me some time on my feet during the day.

Zelanie -- have fun paying to leave!!  Oh, and the miles too!!

PAD -- woo-hoo for your miles, and hope the gym works out!!

Docket -- woo-hoo for hubby time!!

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

              Morning Penguins,

Zel, good luck with the run!  and Where are you that you need to pay an exit tax?

PAD, great job on the miles!

HM, great job on the deep clean and forgetting which day it is!

AFM, it helps to know what you are supposed to run before you go, I thought my plan was walk 5 run 2 x3 but it turns out it was only x2, so since I was still a ways out from work I added a third interval.  Nice pouring rain run...  almost 2.2 total distance.  Best part is it was PAIN FREE!!!  No I just need to take it slow so I don't hurt myself again.  I had forgotten how good it feels to finish a run.

Tick: I'm sure millions of viewers out there are just wondering what it's like to wear the tights of justice. Well, it's tingly and it's uncomfortable, but it gets the job done and, oh, the job of it.

LOL, yes, only 6.  Yay for pain free, Brady!

Hope's Mom, glad to see you back from vacation.  I am sure you are not as pleased as me.

                Barking Mad To Run

What's up? My dander.  I can't believe how some idiots drive.  So me and about 10,000 other drivers are sitting in commuter traffic on the highway, inching along bit by bit and stopping at times.  While we were all at a dead-stop for a bit,  I guess the guy 2 cars ahead of me got tired of it all and decided he wanted to swing out to the other lane and get off the highway.  But...he was a bit too close to the guy in front of him...so this idiot BACKS UP - on the highway no less, sheesh - and, of course, rams right into the guy behind him.  Dammit.  So now all of us behind him are stuck really good because now we can't get around the idiot and the guy he hit, we have to wait for the cops to show up, etc.  Sheesh.  Good thing today is a running day and my boss is VERY liberal about me coming in late to work on my running mornings as long as I make up the time.  I ended up coming in about 45 minutes later than I usually do on a running morning.

Well, at least I had a really good run/walk this morning.    3.5 miles done at Fort Sam Houston.   We actually did get some rain last night, so this morning actually felt a bit 'cool', even though the temp was already near 80 at 5 a.m. when I went out...but that dew-point behaved itself nicely and stayed under 70.

                    Hi guys!

RD today. Wanted to put in some easy miles but life got in the way.  Spent some time at DS kindergarten open house. TMNT after that and he had a blast. Don't really like the movie though.

Still running. Did 6 miles this morning. It was nice to run in 68 degree weather for a change. I am going to do a double today since the weather is nice. I need to get some daytime runs in my trail shoes because I haven't ran in them since September, and I have a trail race next month.

Z - 5k/10k people like me never use the foam roller. If I run so much that I feel that beat up, then I need to drop my miles.

                            Hi Pens...

DW and I have been busy with back to school stuff. I started on Monday and our kids start today. I have 4.4 nice miles last night and I think the extra rest is doing me some good.

                            See ya.

Doing much better since mid-June. I pushed back too quickly from a calf strain in May because I wanted to run the BAA 10k. When I went to vacation in Boston, I healed up because I only did 12 miles that week. Ever since I have gotten back from Boston, I have felt great and my running has been going great. I feel like I am in good shape to do good in the fall / winter racing season.

Went for an afternoon walk, in jeans and sandals.  It felt much harder than my walks usually do!  Stupid denim ...
