Pie Friday Penguins! (Read 18 times)

PADRunner

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

As part of the 2024 London Marathon, I am fundraising for VICTA, a charity that helps blind and visually impaired children. My mentor while in law school, Jim K (a blind attorney), has been a huge inspiration and an example of courage and perseverance. Please consider donating.

Just back from the health club.  We will probably run outside today. Maybe a movie later.  Still have 3 Best Pictures to see.

          Have a great weekend !!!

            Barking Mad To Run

It has been raining consistently now since Wednesday night, 7 PM.  I am ready for the rain to stop now and see some sunshine.   Supposedly San Antonio will get sunshine this afternoon.  I hope so.  Rest day for me and after work today will be picking up mine and Gail's packets for the 5K we are both doing tomorrow morning.  I am doing my run/walk/photo thing and Gail is walking the 5K.   I should say 'power-walking" it cuz she is a speedy walker and usually finishes  5K events only a very short time after I finish.

PAD, sorry you even need a bathroom while on a run, that can get annoying.

Jerry, you go to a lot of movies.  You should become a movie critic and get paid for it!

Scotty, I usually end up sleeping through half of the movie.

Jerry, I'm interested to hear what you think of Birdman.

                  RD for me today.

                  Singer who runs a smidge

Morning, Penguins!!  I had seminar yesterday afternoon, which I was slightly late for and nearly skipped.  But I decided to go and when I got to the room, it was slap packed except for three seats on the front row.  So I sucked it up and strode down in front of God and everybody to sit down.  My department chair was in the middle of introducing the speaker and mentioned she graduated from this little college in Washington, which happens to be the same college my husband graduated from.  I realized I was sitting next to the speaker and so whispered under my breath that she and DH were co-alums, which she thought was cool.  Anyway, the talk was quite good, so that was refreshing.  Afterwards I went up and asked where she was from.  Turns out she and DH are from the same small Washington town.  And she was good friends in high school with DH's little brother, and they still keep in touch now and then.  So I'm glad I didn't skip seminar!

PAD -- I like pie, though I'm not thrilled with rhubarb.  Speaking of bathroom ...

                    Ok, now I'm back.

Docket -- holy smokes, is the world coming to an end??

Jerryb -- Enjoy the outside run and the movie!!

scotty -- we're supposed to get rain this afternoon, and possibly snow tomorrow.  Good luck on the race!!

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

                        Hi Pens.

It's a super nice day here; nice and cool and crisp in the morning and warming up to 75 later. It's a perfect day for a SRD and taking the wife (and whatever kids want to go) out to dinner.  I am ready for this weekend. Yes sir.

Small world! Glad you made it to the event.  What college was it? DD is on the college hunt.

So is ours. She has been accepted to two so far. It looks like we will be taking a road trip over spring break to visit a few. I like road trips.

                              Jill.

                              Penguin Power!

Morning pens.  Today is supposed to be a SRD (well yoga) for me, but tomorrow is going to be snowy/icy/gross so I'll do a short run today and move my yoga to tomorrow.  I have my mandarin lesson tonight.  I should actually do my homework this week so that my instructor regains a bit of faith in me :-)  Doing homework as an adult is hard.  Real life (work) gets in the way sometimes.

Good luck with the college hunting guys.  One of the best things I did in high school was apply early decision to college so I got to relax most of senior year while all of my friends were stressed out by the whole process =D
