I got my knee surgery booked. February 5...just two weeks away! This is great news! I was planning a mid-March surgery if I was lucky. I called my doc this morning just to see if they got me booked. They had not, but just had the Feb 5 slot open up so I jumped on it. Well, I didn't actually "jump" on it since I have a bum knee and really shouldn't be jumping, but you know what I'm saying.
Last time I tore my ACL I had to wait two months for surgery. This is much better. I'll be riding again in April and running again in June. This won't be a completely lost year. With any luck, I'll be able to run a half marathon in the fall.
It's still going to suck going through the surgery and rehab though, but better to do it sooner rather than later. Technically, they are calling this an "ACL revision."

Heh...look, I'm all happy about knee surgery.
Thanks, y'all!
That is good news - or as good of news as surgery can be. Good luck, Phil! I hope you are back and running lickety split!
Grats man, I hope all goes well.
That's awesome news, Phil. It must a relief to at least get the milestone marked on the calendar and not have to keep wondering about schedules and time - that'd kill me. Here's hoping for a skilled doc and amazing recovery.
Train smart ... race smarter.

Woooohooo! I think getting your surgery booked is worth another knee thread. I'm very glad you're going to get this taken care of soon, and start the healing process. I'll be sending you lots of good, healing vibes.

Sweet!
In a weird irony, there was an ad for minicus surgery at the top of this thread when I opened it.
Good news! And way to stay positive.

Congrats on the quick surgery!
It always amazes me how long they have people wait for knee surgeries - really, it's just kind of amazing that we can function fairly normally while missing major structural components in our knees.
I tore my meniscus clear off of the bone falling down the steps when I was about 8, and had no idea that it was torn until I was 13. It was flopping around in there unattached on one end for 5 years, when I knelt down weirdly and it wedged itself into the knee joint and my knee got stuck at a 90 degree angle. Knee stuck in a bent position = surgery scheduled in 2 days

Yay for having the surgery soon! Good luck with your recovery.
