Super Sunday Penguins - Time To Get Your Game On! (Read 39 times)

Fear is a Liar

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." WinkIt can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

      Good Morning Penguins!

Just finished 1 hour on the bike trainer - that may be my last ride until Thursday since I have training classes after work Mon, Tues, and Wed.

I plan to get my 2 mile run in later today, looks kind of slippery out there from the light snow we had.

I am now getting ready to head out to my next event for this weekend, the Super Bowl Sunday 7K held in downtown San Antonio along the Riverwalk.  900 people registered for this one so far, with Race Day registration still to come!  Late start time of 10 a.m., but at least it will be warm, will be 61 degrees at start time.  Report and photos to follow!

              Morning guys.

Posted late on yday thread about how I twisted my ankle. Visited the Chinese physician and ordered to take a week off. We'll see. Haa.

The ankle seem ok.  I don't get any pains while tapping on my heel or if I rotated my ankle. The only tender spot is on top of the feet just above the pinkie. It look a little swollen. They often said that the 2nd day is the worst. Finger crossed.

I went to pilates at my gym this morning. Haven't taken a pilates class in over a year...I used to go to one at my old gym by my old apartment. What a great core workout! The guy next to me was farting through out the whole class.....eww...

                Enjoy the Super Bowl parties!

                  Smaller By The Day

It's still snowing.  I have 8 miles to run today, and I can't look at that treadmill again.  This is going to be rough.

Good morning!  RD for me.  Sadly, I need to go in to work as I'm pretty swamped but wasn't able to stay late and get caught up last week (mostly because I wanted to get home and run).  I am not a football fan, so not a bad day to go in really.  I might just stop by and pick up a second pair of running shoes on my way.  I had told DH I was going to try to get some more miles out of the Mizunos on easy days, but I just can't risk injuring myself vs. buying shoes a few weeks earlier than planned.

Gustav- Good luck getting your run in on the snow!

Jerry- Have a good run later!

D- Glad you had a better run today.

Scotty- Hope you enjoy your run!  I'm sure you'll do fine, but good luck with the "extra" distance. Smile

Bin- Take care and heal up.

Kristin- Glad you had a good class, except for that guy next to you- yikes!

Awood- Good luck getting the miles in!  Any way to turn it so you don't have to look at the same spot on the wall?

Gustav, nice workout on the bike, be careful on the run.

Jerry, enjoy the track, hopefully it won't be too crowded.

Docket, nice 5, have a good day.

Scotty, 7k? we have one 7k race around here but I have yet to run it.

Bin, hope the ankle is nothing serious.

Kristin, I couldn't help but laughing at that, did he say excuse me or anything?

I got 12.2 last night and put 5.5 in the middle around 8:40ish. I'm down to just 2 more weeks before my half. I need to get my goals finalized, but here's what I'm thinking. Feel free to comment or give opinions/advice. My last half was 2:01:20, and training was okay, but I've had a much better cycle this time around. First goal is to break 2 hours, second is to beat 1:55:30, and my stretch goal is to be around 1:52:00. The half also has a full with pacers for 3:45 and 4:00. I know I want to stay between the two, but I'm thinking of hanging around the 3:45 pacer the best I can, and if I fade a little, I still should hit a couple of my goals.

                            Morning All!

SRD for me.  Ran 3 Easy yesterday, although running through snow made it feel like 6!

                            Have a good day, everybody!

Bin - sorry you have to take some time off, but hopefully that will heal your ankle completely.

Kristin - I think I would have moved, but he was probably embarassed enough.

Scotty - hope the race went well.  I like later starts. It's hard for me when they start at 7:00, as I am not a morning person.  I visited New Braunfels years ago.  Is it still as quaintly touristy?

Gustav - two miles in the snow isn't bad, unless it's icy.  By the time you finish you should be nicely warmed up.

Awood - eight miles in the snow is harder.  Hope you don't get too wet.

Jerry - enjoy the track.  We're having burgers and Harp beer tonight.  No party for us, but we'll watch the game.

Mitch  - sounds like you are going to do well at your HM.  Not really a penguin any more;-)  How long a taper are you planning?  Was this your last long run?

AFM:  I'm in the same spot as Gustav and Awood - it's snowing but warm enough that the snow melts on impact.  If I run outside, I'll get soaked, either from the wet snow or from sweat if I wear a rain jacket.  I'll give it a little time to see whether the snow stops before I decide whether I'll go out or do the TM.

Ginny, the plan has reduced miles the last 2 weeks, but has me doing 10 next weekend. I'm doing the Ryan Hall 10 week plan for the half. Last week was the peak at 45.19, this week just finished 39.21, so maybe 30-33 for this coming week.
