I haven't started the Saturdailies in a long time (Read 37 times)

But today is as good a day as any. Hopefully I didn't forget how.

They were predicting thunderstorms all weekend. Had all kinds of thoughts of running in pouring rain, LR on the treadmill, etc. Instead, woke up to a beautiful clear morning. No complaints.

10 miles easy, followed by making myself blueberry pancakes.

    Have a good one everybody.

Wow, I am early today. Hi, DaveP.

No run for me today as we are off to a swim meet in Orange County with DD2. The other day I mentioned I woke up with a "sore leg" and could barely hobble my way to 2 miles. Well, the problem is lingering and after rolling it with a baseball, doing a little internet research, and talking to a few people, I think I might have a piriformis issue on the right side.  Any advice or experience dealing with this? It's pretty annoying.

In other news, have a great day and weekend.

Morning!  I have the same easy 10 coming up for me in a bit.  Hopefully it goes as well as Dave's.  I'm at least brave enough to mostly run in the parks these days, but the half-mile loop might be the death of me.  Maybe I can change it up a bit.

        Dave- Save me some pancakes!

Jack- Good luck to the DD's!

          Good morning!

8.2 miles this morning, including a hill the group has dubbed "The Beast" - a constant, unrelenting, mile-long slog that gains about 300 ft in elevation.

20,000 miles behind me, the world still to see.

Morning. On the plane on my way to SF. Sixth day of light tension headache, but hoping it goes away before the race.

We've got storms predicted all weekend starting at 3 PM today and through tomorrow to 6 PM, but I am getting ready to head out with Dorian for a 3 miler and hoping that tomorrow morning's 30% chance of rain around 6 AM is true and it isn't bad. I could wait to run my 16 miler in the evening BUT I don't like doing runs over 2 hours as it is getting dark - it's not bad to start out in the dark and watch the sun rise though.

'Morning!  I hit the track this morning.  8.5 miles at 7:44 avg pace.  9 x 400m.  I was still feeling Thursday's long run, plus I ran last night so this felt like a double.  Tough but good workout.

                      Morning!

A bit over 8 miles easy done. Scottydawg met and escorted me around to see the routes and then we started off.

We paused around the 2 mile mark took a couple of pictures said our fairwells and split. I finished out diwn the Riverwalk (turned around down near Lonestar brewery) and Scotty headed back to the start.

Enjoyed our brief visit, thanks for showing me around Scottydawg!

On to Seaworld to totally get jellyleg walking all day.

                      Tomorrows run should be fun.

What a great treat for Slymoon and scottydawg.

After breakfast, I'm gonna drive out to a route to scout out the course of an upcoming 10k. I'll run 8 miles on that course though.

                          'Sup!

raced ran a 5k this morning in 19:17 (3 miles exactly according to Garmin).  I did not really push myself mentally or physically and was never in any real discomfort.

My main goal today was to get in a solid effort without aggravating my busted up groin, I was able to do that so win.

This course is weird in that when it gets to the paved trail there is a significant drop in pace despite no change in perceived effort.  I suspect the series of back to back twist and turns and a couple of elevation rises are the culprit for that.

6:08, 6:41, 6:26 is what I ran but I never really felt like I slowed down that much.

As it is I was finally able to finish ahead of my main rival who blew a gasket at around 1.5 mark.  I ran in his pocket until just about the 2.9 mark then sprinted what seem like forever finishing ahead of him by about 4 seconds and taking first in our age group in the process.

I am not sure if he would have challenged me had I waited to kick, and I usually do so at the last minute because kicking too soon can leave you looking silly with some of these runners.

Today it worked and although I ran a little bit more below my fitness than I would have liked (49 VDOT performance, my VDOT is 55), all things considered it was an okay day.
