Last year, I set a miles goal of 2,500 and fell just short. This year, my goal was 2,600 and I crossed that line yesterday. Next year, I have set it at 2,750. Don't know if I'll ever reach 3,000.
Short term goal: 2:59:59 (November, 2013)
Mid term goal: Any race over 80% of top AG standard
Long term goal: To say I've been a runner half my life. (I started running at age 45).

WOOT!
way to go! That's awesome!
That's great, LTH!
With 2 weeks to go still, I should be over 2650 miles for the year myself. With 6 marathons, complete with 6 tapers and 6 recovery periods low on mileage, I think it isn't too bad!

You can easily hit that goal using this formula:
Run 51 miles on your 51st birthday
Run 25 miles on Dec 25 in honor of Christmas
Run 30 miles on Labor day in honor of all those who work hard
Run 4 times on July 4th, 6 miles each
And run 20 miles on the ides of March and you'll get 2750. Easy as Pie.
