Speaking of finish I have two races this month; a mile the first week and a 5k the last week.

        1. The 5k is run on a paved trail where the distance traveled was deceiving to me last year racing through all that greenery, so it will be interesting to see how I have adapted.

I do not really have a goal for it as it will likely be hot and steamy but I would like to do well in terms of vdot, and not blow-up like last time.

        2. The mile is a bit more important and I have all kinds of hopes for it but most of all I just do not want to blow it.

        3. As far as mileage this will be another take it easy month for me and I am hoping to take a week completely off at some point during it.

        1. I decided to take it easy during the 5k and did not go all out for the first time ever in a race.  I have been nursing a groin injury and just saw no point in pushing things in an event that was more of an obligation to run than a goal race.
        2. After introspection, I guess I did pretty well at my mile race after all.  I had higher expectations but a 12 second improvement is nothing to dismiss.  I should have taken a bit more joy in that performance.
        3. I took 5 consecutive days off during the second week of the month and mentally feel as fresh as ever which was the goal.

All in all it was a good month as those thing go.

-Start getting the mileage back up.  225 miles would be good.

            -Keep up with the speedwork

-Have a good duathlon (July 12) and beat last year's time (2:43)

            -Keep being awesome

-Not quite at 225 but I'll end with around 230.

I've had a really good month and can't wait for those fall races.  Still a month to train before the next race too!

If I can manage, by the end of the month, to run 6 days a week and not feel so out of shape, I will be happy.

I would say 50%. I ran 6 days / 54 miles last week but definitely still out of shape.

                  - Have fun at the Summer Series

                  - Sub-19 at the TSMS 5k

                  - Done, sort of, last week was a lil low, but if I don't get hit by a car today or tomorrow, I'll have a monthly mileage PR. Smile

                  - Done, sort of. lol I was at 180.2 this morning, so I might hit 179 tomorrow.  If not, I'm still on track for my goal weight for Richmond.

                  - Done, and it's going great!

                  - Done, had a blast, so glad I was able to make it this year!

                  - Nope, but I won my AG and ran a 19:16 on a crazy twisty course, so I'll take it.  Cooler weather and a faster course and I'm going deep into the 18s.

Run 10 miles this month. If PT bumps me up to 1-2 minute running intervals toward the end of the month, this might be doable.  It's good to have these difficult goals, no?

23 miles so far this month!  I'm up to 3:30 minute intervals.  My hip continues to feel stronger as time goes on.  Sometimes it even feels like maybe I'll be a runner again.

Due to vacation I missed this thread at the start of the month.

My goal was not to let my vacation wreck my marathon build-up.

My highest mileage month in two years I think shows I met that goal.

                            5K  20:23  (Vdot 48.7)   9/9/17

                            10K  44:06  (Vdot 46.3)  3/11/17

                            HM 1:33:48 (Vdot 48.6) 11/11/17

Out of shape = slower than before.

Nice on the 23 miles.  Do you go for 25 straight minutes next week then?  That should start to feel like real running.
