Top 3 (in no particular order):
• cyclocross bike (brand/model flexible)
• 2011 Cannondale SuperSix (there is no Six line, anymore) -- not picky about specific model, as long as it has Shimano 105/SRAM Rival or better
• And THIS!!! How wild is that?! Looks like it would take up less space than a trainer that uses the back wheel, too. Probably a lot less risky to our cats, as well.

I built up a Six 13 frame over the winter. I LOVE that bike. It is unbelievably responsive.
Yep, my next road bike will definitely be a very different ride from my Synapse. The more I ride, the more I find it to be sorta...gummy. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it's sorta dull. Kinda reminds me of the difference in feel from my '97 Ford Escort (very numb, lotsa body roll) to my Mazda 3 (much firmer, sportier suspension). Sometimes I feel like my bike has no interest in going much faster than 16-17mph, but I do. It's nice for long, leisurely rides, but I'm really thinking that in the next couple of years I might try to get in on some of the Tues. night time trials nearby during the Summer. On paper my next bike will likely have me a lot less upright and the bike itself will be a good deal stiffer with lighter-weight wheels.

a computrainer for winter training (and a peek at some ironman courses)
a renn disk just cause I love that sound though it would probably get old after an hour
a good bike only path w/ light posts every 10 meters so I can ride whenever I wanted
Tri Rule #1 of Triathlon Training/Racing - If Momma ain't happy nobody is happy
And no cross-streets or meandering, slower cyclists/runners/kids/dogs on long leads...
1. 2011 Felt DA
2. Tandem
3.. Computrainer to ride some Ironman courses

BT, we should have our Co-Motion tandem any day now! DS is gonna flip (it's a surprise for him)!
I saw your pics, looks like fun you guys. My wife has wanted one for awhile now but unfortunately, money is an object. I'll probably end up with a tri bike before we get a tandem unless I find a great deal on a used one.
Yeah...we got a good discount on ours (helps to be friends with the LBS owner), but even so it's $$. We actually put off the order a bit when both of our cars were in the shop--we're convinced they were conspiring against us biking. That bike is pretty much Christmas and birthday for all 3 of us this year.
