My ass hurts just thinking about it!     I kind of like the fact that I've run farther than I've ridden a bike.  I might want to keep it that way!

    Running is dumb.

You've ridden a century, right?  ODRAM is easier than a lot of centuries...very few significant hills and generally a tailwind for the entire thing.  Plus the last 60 or so miles are net downhill.  Think about it.  I've done it 2x, missed a year, and can't wait to get back to it this year.

Getting the wind knocked out of you is the only way to

remind your lungs how much they like the taste of air.

Nooooooooooo.  LOL.  The furthest I've ridden on a bike is 50 miles.  It was on a heavy mountain bike with knobbies.    I need to figure out my saddle situation on this bike before I do much of anything, because the stock one is not cutting it.

And I've been to Iowa too many times.  I'm trying not to go back.

I'm going out on a limb here but I'm assuming you are from Wisconsin. I grew up outside of Dubuque...we vacation extended weekends all over Wisconsin. I'd love to find some wooded acreage along a small river or pond and throw up a 3 season cabin.

Every few years I'll see someone selling T-Shirts on RAGBRAI with the a slogan on front that reads "Is This Heaven" and then on the back another reads "Drink Enough and You'll Forget it's Iowa!

RAGBRAI truely is an experience that compares to no other.

Yes, I am from Wisconsin.  Born, raised, still living here.  Dubuque, eh?  At least you're not a FIB.

No, I am not an FIB. And I don't call Miller Park Wrigly North.

You have tons of rides to chose from...If you like riding the country roads, drinking beer and good food check out the Potosi Brewery Bike tour in September.

Nice.  Now that sounds like fun.  I've been dreaming of their Tangerine IPA ever since I had one last year.  I'll definitely check that one out.

Yeah, I don't know how I feel about RAGBRAI.  I don't like crowds or camping and that seems to be the way most people sleep at night.  I'm a princess...I like my shower and bed. Tongue

The saddle thing...OMG, I went through AT LEAST 13 before I finally sucked it up and tried a $$ SMP.  And now I have 3.  I'll never ride anything else.  The Drakon is my favorite.  I'm building the color scheme of my Seven around a green Drakon.

Pretty much sums it up for me as well.  Well... except for the princess part, of course.  That said, I have a friend from Iowa who has like 50+ first cousins everywhere around the state.  I may get to sleep on couches instead!  It is definitely on my list.

I've been on 12 different RAGBRAI's going back to 1985.

In my early years I've camped.

In my last five I have had a roof over my head and a hot shower every night. You can do RAGBRAI how ever you want.

With all the other across state rides that I have done, none come close to comparing to RAGBRAI. I'm not trying to sell anyone on it...just trying to say, don't discount it because you think you know what it is.

That being said...RAGBRAI ain't for everybody. For me, simply stated...It's the funnest week of my life and there isn't a single thing I can think of that could top that one week of RAGBRAI. Not even close.

I wound up robbing my old bike of its saddle.  That stock saddle was horrific.  My old saddle isn't 100% perfect, but at least it's tolerable.  I think I need something more T-shaped, but my old saddle actually feels better on my new bike than it did on my old bike, so I'll ride it for a while and see how it goes.  Of course, now I need another saddle for my old bike if I want to ride it at all, which I do.    This hobby is expensive.  I need to take up running.

When do you get your Seven?

Ha, no joke!  And, yeah...I need super T-shaped saddles...I can't do pear at all!!

I think the ETA on the Seven is in 6ish weeks.  I hope I have it in time for a century on 7/19, but it will probably be a week or two after that.

I went through a bunch of saddles as well, I like the more T-shaped ones.  The one I've liked the most is a Bontrager but I don't see the exact model anymore on their website.  Figures.

Ooh.  I think I know which one you're talking about.  Is it this one?  If so, I may still have one floating around.  I think I still have a couple different Bontragers, as they were the ones that worked best for me, prior to finding the SMP.

Let me know and I'd pass them along to you for dirt cheap if I can find them.
