did the 10k yesterday guess with the all the races this weekend not too many people wanted to do this 10k. it was the first race of the year for me and was a comedy of frigging errors. I was in the back talking with friends when the race started I was stuck behind a wall of people. I expended way too much energy cutting thru traffic and went out too fast the first mile. then second mile it thinned out but I was still going too hard for a 10k. by the turnaround it was really thin and I was all alone and kicking myself for running a great 1st 5k instead of a smart 10k. then two guys passed me and I just couldn't go with them because I too busy beating myself up for running like a moron for the first two miles. the last mile just seemed hot and I couldnt' wait for it to end. Another guy was caught up to me about 3/4 of mile to go and I stuck with him and kept telling to myself that I wouldn't let him go. about 1/4 mile to go I made a move because I know I have no finish line kick and was able to create a gap. 10 yds from the finish line I heard feet and look over to see the 3rd woman and decided it wasn't worth the pain to fight her so I let her go and finished in 42:53 2nd in AG 13th overall. not bad run but was hoping break 42. Mcmillan says I'm pace for 72 minutes but hopefully if run smarter on broad st I can make up those two minutes.
good course -it's an out and back on west river drive (MLK) by the Art Museum not too many folks in the 10k. Tshirt is ok and goodie bag was pretty lame though I did get about half dozen granola bars. it starts pretty late 10:20 for the 10k
and on the way home I got totally lost |

Congrats on your AG placing and your overall placing. Sorry to hear that you weren't completely satisfied with your time.
