Hi Everyone! W5D2 done yesterday - went ok actually, pretty happy with it - forgot my HRM so not sure how the body was going, but didn't feel as bad as i thought i might.... s'posed to be running with a friend today (she's doing my runs at my rate) so might do D2 again rather than moving straight on to D3.... am i being a chicken?
eyedocguy - did you get your run types set up? I thought i'd do that so i could track things more easily - it might not make a difference really, but i can track it better in my head....
LaineT - i love your positivity, i can only hope that it feels that way when i get to W8...
runswithdogs - with your music, do you pick songs that match your cadence or just have random songs that you like on there? i'm using the Ullrey podcasts at the moment and am struggling with the beats and moods of the music he's using....
Jennicap - good on you for coming back to it! I'm a repeat offender too! they tell me it can be done!!
mimi73 - welcome aboard!
Yelie - way to get straight into it!
Polepole - we can do this!!!
You guys are all an inspiration - thanks for your posts - it makes it so much easier to stay motivated!!!

Kiwirunning, Do you get Bob the Builder (a kids' show) down under? They sing a song that goes " Can we do it? YES WE CAN!".
This might be my new motto.

kiwirunning -
I've been using the Ullrey podcasts, too, until this last 20 minute straight run. Since I am repeated the whole week 5, I just didn't want to listen to the same thing for the 6th time. So, I just chose some of my favorite, fast tempo music and added up all the minutes to be 19:49 seconds (figuring the pauses between the 6 songs would be close enough). I didn't go into all the technicalities of the beats per minute - just chose upbeat stuff. Mellower stuff to warm up and cool down. I think I may put together another playlist for the 25 minute run at the end of week 6, if I can find the time.
I already said this, but I'm really glad I repeated week 5. I feel much more confident about my W6D1 tomorrow. I don't think you're chicken to repeat W5D2. I figure, it's more important to keep going than to impress myself with rapid progress.
I also really appreciate reading all these posts. It's great to hear from people further ahead who were where I am now not too long ago. |

Hello everybody. I completed the third week 4 run last night and actually felt like there was life in my legs afterwards. I had promised myself that I wouldn't look at the Week 5 program before Friday but I went and did it anyway.
I have been through C25K before and managed to get up to the 30 mins time but never completed a full three miles, so this time it's war! |

OHR W3D1 completed this morning. My pace is getting faster with the same level of effort according to my heart rate monitor. I think I can actually get this thing done and become a runner.
Congratulations to everyone that keeps moving forward, the progress is definitely worth it. The best thing about these programs is the fact that every new workout builds off the previous efforts put in. All you have do is keep heading out the door with your running shoes on. Slow and steady is my motto - I want this to be a new lifestyle and not a passing fad. |

I hope you keep posting. I've never been a dancer, but I have a couple kids who do. One is talking about starting the C25K after school gets out, since he sees me doing it and not dying, or even complaining that much. I'll be interested in your progress! Keep going!

This is a mental game, isn't it? I told myself all day I was going to have a great run and I really did when I finally got out there. (I couldn't go until suppertime.) The wind was hideous but somehow I went faster than I usually do.
Looking forward to W3D3 on Saturday! |

Definitely a mental game. And you won!
OHR W8D2 yesterday. 2.97 miles in 36 minutes. First half was uphill, second half was downhill. I managed negative splits, which is fun, although obviously the incline thing helped. And the whole time I stayed within my aerobic hr zone. So there.

Pretty quiet in here. What's going on, folks?
I was supposed to run today and had to put it off until tomorrow (not thrilled about that), but just not enough time today to get everything done I need to. |

Supposed to do a 49 minute run today, but woke up with a sore throat and cough and just feeling kind of crappy. We'll see if I improve and the afternoon goes on. I'll modify if I end up feeling better and getting out there. For now, I'm going to try to listen to my body for once.

OHR w3d3 done on the second attempt.
I am participating in a triathlon in September, so I started my cross training this morning with a 30 minute bike ride with the intention of following it with w3d3.... wrong. I made it 5 minutes before I had to stop and go home. Never felt so defeated.
The bike ride was no picnic and I shoulda known better.
Went home and rested for about three hours and then ran w3d3 just fine. |

Was sidelined this last week with medical issues which are resolved now. Went on a LONG bike ride today - about 17 miles. Happy to say I didn't get winded - although the top of my feet are sore and I can't figure out why. Going to try to get back again to running tomorrow if I am not too sore - else Tuesday. Going canoeing Monday.
gwhutch - there are some sprint triathalon's here in Cincinnati that have a canoe/kayak portion and also have a walking division as an option. Ever thought about something like that? Sounds fun to me

It was a lot of fun. We get our results back in a few weeks, and assuming we passed everything, the actual belt in November. I'm kinda tired right now (it's late) so I'll have to tell you more about it later.
