How is eveybody getting along with their C25K (Read 440 times)

LOL. I suppose you have a point. HOWEVER...I will wait to take the title when I FINISH the race Smile There's a lot of work to be done between now and then, so I will not look ahead. Still, the sentiment is appreciated Kirsten...

We ask ourselves: “Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous?” Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world." ~ Marianne Williamson

Hi, Tedd. I think you got some good advice the first time you posted this. When's your first run date? 1) Running on a TM vs outdoors is largely a matter of personal preference. When I started running, I found it easier to use a TM because it would time (and pace!) my runs for me and I could stop at any time by just getting off the machine. After I felt more confident of my running, I took it outdoors. Right now I prefer trail running, but will use the TM when I feel I need to be able to stop at a moment's notice. It does use slightly different muscles, so be prepared for an adjustment period if you're using just one (road vs TM) and are trying to switch to another. 2) I'm assuming you mean run on the TM one day and outdoor another? Sure. Do whta it takes to keep you motivated and interested. They each have different benefits. 3) Really, it's a matter of personal preference and what works best for your schedule. To help make it a habit, it's best to pick one time and stick with it. But flexibility's important too - you have to be willing to run at a different time if something comes up that might interfere with your run. 4) I work 12 hr shifts too, and find it difficult even though mine don't rotate. Have you tried multiple small meals instead of set "mealtime" meals? There's no one right way to do this - it's whatever works for you that's important. I'm currently doing tkd too, and love it. It's a totally different beast than running, though. TKD tends to develop your fast-twitch muscles, anaerobic system, etc. Running develops the aerobic system. Big difference. However, I find that my tkd gives me extra motivation for my running - more aerobic system means a better sparring ability. Big grin Keep posting in here - we have several people going through the program right now. We're trying to do weekly check-ins, but that doesn't mean you have to limit yourself to once a week. Looking forward to hearing how your first runs go! -Janell
