Ran on track with colleague for 6mi, and decided I'd keep going until sun set. Pushed it a bit further than that and got 19 in. It was 79F when I got in the car afterward -- but it didn't feel bad on the track b/c there was a breeze.

Just saw this -- Krupicka on minimalist training -- probably not a plan us humans should follow, but I enjoyed reading it.

    p2r: Which guy are you?

I keep forgetting I should practice hydrating and taking in calories on long runs. Hopefully I'll get to it one of these days.

    Great video of 1972 800m final: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LHid-nC45k

It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.

That recovery running really helps, huh, Bugs?  Nice 9 yesterday.

Uh, Perry - accidentally running 19 in the middle of the week?  I don't think your plan is what we humans should follow.  Smile

      On the road again...

I agree with Lou about Perry's training plan.  Ridiculous.

        Nice smart run, Bugs.

Got in 55 minutes of running in soup.  95% humidity.

I write. I read. I run. One time, I ran a lot on my 50th birthday.

Heh, you guys are funny. But actually I hope to race a 5K this Sun, so it made sense to get a long run in before the weekend, instead of during the weekend.

Perry - you're at a streak of 110 days.  I'm at a streak of, umm, 1.  Tomorrow's run will double that.  I think you can do whatever you want.

              Hey you all!

Loved your picture, Pace!   I agree with the others that you look strong.  Perry, he's the one in the back, getting ready to pass.

And Perry seems to regularly accidentally run 18-20 miles during the week.  Smile

Speaking of soup, it's been hot here the past few days but we've had a bit of a cool down today and tomorrow.

There's a 10K tomorrow morning that I want to run but I'm not completely sure.   My calf/ankle is hurting again.

I'm wondering if I need to take a full 2 weeks off or something.   I just take a day here and there and continue to run and it seems to be OK but then it hurts like heck all of a sudden.   So, i'm off to the painful massage therapist guy here in a little bit.

Any thoughts?   I'll ask him what he thinks about running, too, although I'm not sure if he knows.   I also wonder if I should go to real doctor to get a complete diagnosis.

Bugs, great job!!   You're ready for Grandmas, for sure.

10 miles recovery is tough to get through, but I did feel better. I need to work on more slow jogging miles.

I hate stop running as I just seem to tighten up. I don't think most muscle issues get better by complete time off. You need good blood flow in injured areas and running helps that. It's the balance that is difficult to judge. One advice that came from Nobby that I still do was jogging 30 minute (with the option of doubles) for taper or a large cut-back. When I was sick I even did 60 minutes. You might want to try this for injury, like a time limit of 30-40 minutes of just relaxed easy running with the option of some doubles. I also mix in an occassional stride because I swear strides loosen those tight calves better than just easy running.

I'm so excited for Grandmas. Can't wait for this LR to be in the books!

THANKS ALL for the birthday wishes!!! Had a great one. Didn't run that day (freaken in the 90's and I was all about being inside enjoying the AC).

Looks like some good running going on this week!  LOVE the photo pace! You definitely looked strong!

LOVE recovery runs!! Spent this week doing pretty much all recovery runs except for today. No more tightness when going downhill so I'm thinking I'm recovered (at least my legs feel like that at the moment) I've got a summer of back to back medium long/long runs starting this weekend (peak week before next marathon lol peak weak and a recovery week go figure) I'm running with my RP tomorrow. She's looking to do at least 10 miles and I've got  20 planned on Sunday with a group of runners. Haven't decided what my pace will be on Sunday, probably  somewhere between 9:30-10 minute average pace  knowing the peeps I'll be running with. Hope everyone has an AWESOME & SAFE Holiday weekend!!! GOOD RUNNING ALL!!

Hope the calf/ankle feels better Kimmie!

Kimmie:  with the lower leg stuff if it's sore I will run on it   going out easy until it loosens up.  I'll also stretch it during the day. If I sit or rest it too long it just stays stiff.  If there's swelling or  I fear  it's torn I would rest, ice and take something for the  inflamation until it felt better.

Perry:  There's been a lot of crap weather the past 110 days.  That is an awesome streak. I am the guy with the sunglasses on in the picture.  Nice of my friend  IRL to  make me look  both short and  slow in the same picture.  I'll have to thank him and the track club for posting it.

7 & change this morning in clear skies and sunshine.

                        Kim,

You should go buy compression socks. I bought some SigVar brand for $30 at Fargo expo and love them. Them and lots of deep massage kept me going this week.

Long run was really good. Ended up running 23 miles, pace just kept getting faster with an average of 9:06. Couldn't get out of bed so some parts of the run felt very sunny and hot. Didn't seem to affect me though. Bugs is officially tapering.

Way to nail the last one down Bugs! Can't imagine it will be a drastic weather change between now and Grandmas.  You are ready for the heat.

Signed up for Lewis and Clark Marathon October 3rd and beat the fee increase set for Monday.

It will be the one  I run for time.  I have two more to enter.  Schedule will will be Pikes Peak on 8/22, Heart of America on 9/6, L&C on 10/3 and RB 50k Trail Run on 10/10.  It's going to  be a good Fall.  Lots of training to do.

Great photo, pace (now that I know which one you are). Hey, don't get distracted by the casinos in St Charles or they might really hinder your goal time...

Did my first brick (bike & run) for the year this morning -- doing a tri in a week, so now I have once bike ride in. Went over the course this morning, so know I can ride as far as I need to next week.

Forgot to eat lunch, so wolfing down some tuna right now -- bit of a hurry cause I'm going to go run with a friend in half an hour.

                            Great long run Bugs.

Friend of mine is up in Lou's town for the parade & homecoming which will be very shortly, for returning warriors.

It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.

Parade?  Why wasn't I informed?  Is it tonight?

Nice long run, Bugs!!  23 @ 9:06 is fast -- you're going to have a great race at Grandma's

I'd wish Perry luck for his 5K but that's just silly -- he's going to do great regardless of me wishing him luck

Kimmie - I have no idea -- hope you figure it out.

                              4 easy miles this morning

I think the parade should be right now.
