On the road again...

I'm starting the new thread at  4:30???  Must be the week between 2 big holidays.

Last week of the year and my only goal now is to get in 100 miles this month so I can keep my streak of consecutive triple digit months alive.  5.2 miles today leaves me 15 miles to run by Friday.  Should be able to knock those out pretty easily.

Speaking of treadmills in last week's thread, we're really considering buying one, not so much for me to use bit for my wife and children.   Seems to be some good deals right now on ProForms and NordicTracks.  Any insight on a good mill for around 1k or less?

I write. I read. I run. One time, I ran a lot on my 50th birthday.

    Paul

No ideas on 'mills, Paul.  I'm listening to what people have to say, though, although we really don't have the room for it.

3 easy miles this morning for me.  I was going to brew today, but of course the homebrew store wasn't open very late on Christmas eve so I couldn't buy the ingredients until today.  I have the yeast growing right now, so I'll run tomorrow then brew.

Small group run in a local park -- was fun to see the windsculpted shapes in the snow, and to occasionally run through drift areas. Also a fair amount of crunching along.

It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.

          Where is everyone?

We have this week off of work, so I am taking advantage and brewing today.  Harriet took this opportunity to go to work anyway, as she feels the need to make some headway there -- when lots of others are around she feels like she's losing ground.

My run this morning was the definition of meh.  I just didn't have anything -- not sure what's wrong with me as it's been a bad week so far.  I cut short my 10 miler and finished with 6.

          On the road again...

It is quiet here.  Hopefully it's a good quiet.

"Tempo Tuesday" for me today.  5 miles total with 3 @ 8:11/mi in between the w/u and c/d.

              Nice run Paul!

Feeling meh also.  Cut short yesterday and today's run.  Hoping I can pull out a good 5k on Friday night. Tonight is a watch party for the Insight Bowl.  Go Tigers!

Back at work today after being off for 10 days (counting all the days and holidays in between).  Did a little bit of running down in SC but not as committed as I should've been.  Didn't really take advantage of the warmer weather.  Just enough to keep a little bit of fitness in my legs.

Overall, we had a nice family holiday.  No running gifts this year.  My refurb'd  Garmin 305 is working great and I didn't feel the need to "upgrade" to the 405 even after they reduced the prices leading up to the holiday.

I feel in a way that I'm in the calm before the storm.  My work schedule after the first of the year right through mid-February isn't looking too great.  Will take quite a bit of focus to keep the exercise up.  Overall, I'm amazed that my fitness has held together despite the lack of mileage.  Not marathon shape but good enough for a decent half or two.

I'm interested in the treadmill feedback as well.  They've got one for $799 at Costco that looks OK.

Nice beer porn on FB, Lou Wink.

I ran a mile and I liked it, liked it, liked it.

Any chance it's this one?  I've looked at that one some.

The same one.  The price is pretty good.  Seems to have the right specs.  I've got room in my basement so I'm tempted...

A little 5 miler for me this morning.  Still looking for my mojo.

We had to clear a couple of rooms today.  We are getting carpet to replace that which our dearly departed dog destroyed as she was going downhill.  We have a lot of crap.  If we are clever, we'll get rid of some of it rather than putting it back where it was.

                      Dave

3 rather easy miles for me today after a short work day.  I'm running so little at this point that every run feels pretty nice (legs are fresh each and every time).

We're struggling right now with when to put our cat down.  He's been with us for our entire marriage and is beginning to fail.  He's lost a lot of weight.  Kidneys are going.  Peeing on stuff including the bed.  He's almost 20 so I know the end is not too far for him but its still not an easy decision for my wife especially.  Heck, he's been around more than I have.  Oh well.  Always hard with pets.

Lou, I believe that even if you live in the same house for 20 years, you should have to pack every thing up into boxes, move them out and then back in.  I guarantee you'd throw some stuff out then Wink

I ran a mile and I liked it, liked it, liked it.

Understand that it's a hard decision, Dave.  But at this point it might be the kinder decision.  But it's hard to say goodbye to a good friend.

Hopefully my last post didn't seem too judgmental.  It's a very hard and personal decision.

                            Anyway...

Felt a whole lot better in today's run than the last couple of longer runs:

                            On the road again...

Had a nice 6 mile run this afternoon and then relaxed at the movies with my family watching the new Narnia film.  Great, great movie.

                                3.75 today on the treadmill.

No worries, Lou.  You were fine.

We did put him down today.  Hard to say goodbye to an old friend.

He was in pain though and I know we did the right thing.

I ran a mile and I liked it, liked it, liked it.
