Bugs

Shan, the inside of my chest feels thick. My head is thick.
    Fixed that for you.

Nationals Half Marathon is sold out. Sad I can't do April either. Coach would kill me.
DW isn't too happy about this one. Pricey and on the heels of a business trip that week. I hope I don't have to bail.

I ran a mile and I liked it, liked it, liked it.

Heh, at first I thought Dave said he ran undressed miles. Alrighty then.... Wink Those relays are a blast. At least the Ragnar del Sol Relay in AZ I did last year was. Wow, what an experience. I think the best part about it was that our team was all members from the RA or Kick Runners' masters forums, some I'd met before, and others I just met for the first time. But we'd been corresponding and reading each others posts for ages beforehand. It was so much fun. I couldn't do it this year, but I'd like to again sometime. I'll be at a resort in Henderson, NV... just outside of Vegas. Don't plan on going into Las Vegas itself. Frankly, if I never do that again that's fine with me. That place drives me nuts. Last year I went to a wellness seminar in Caesar's Palace. So gross that to get to your conference room they route you through the bar and casino... bleh. Second-hand-smoke central. I thought I'd heard they don't allow smoking in the bars/casinos anymore though. Is that true? If so, it might be somewhat tolerable.... DH is joining me there. He had meetings in Pittsburgh, and is boarding his plane now to head to Las Vegas. I'm in Seattle, I get on my plane two hours after he does and I get there an hour before. We've never been able to coordinate trips like this before, and my conference has activities for guests/spouses so that should be fun. Don't know how much running I'll get done this week though, but that's ok I guess.

Your toughness is made up of equal parts persistence and experience. You don't so much outrun your opponents as outlast and outsmart them, and the toughest opponent of all is the one inside your head." - Joe Henderson

Dave, Ya the Ragnar Relays seem expensive and time consuming. I almost bailed on my one for August but got convinced to stay in it...that happens when you're the one that is suppose to supply the van. Smile

You know how you said Dave and I are exciting to watch? I'm way more exciting in person. Grandmas still has spots open.

I can't do Grandma's... but we will figure something out!

Harriet and I went there in October after the Portland Marathon, and I'm pretty sure smoking was still happening then. Maybe it's changed since? BTW, we didn't bet even one nickel there. We saw a couple of shows, went sight-seeing, and sat by the pool. http://www.pbase.com/lking/lasvegas08 .

DH and I were there before we got married and had a great time in the desert, up at Hoover Dam, driving around just checking things out. Hardly ever spent time in Vegas itself, just a little to check out the strip. Then I was there a couple years ago with my boys for the Far West Regionals soccer tournament, it was like 200F every day and DH and I were not getting along (hence I was there with the boys, no DH). I hated it. Then I went to that conference last year, alone, with smoky casinos and bars I couldn't avoid. I hated that, too. Red Rock Canyon does look nice, and I think where we'll be in Henderson is nice. Just keep me out of Vegas, proper, and I'll probably be fine.

Shan: I'll be flying into Philly on 4/23. We are going there because my friend has friends we are staying with. Flying out the 26th. Wish I had more details. I'm the type who loves a schedule but I'm not planning this one. I trust my friend who also has purchased flight and trip so it should turn out ok. Hope we can all meet up before the start. I'll post team name and my run schedule when I find it out. Looking forward to it all!

Good thing we are online friends. Y'all get way too sick.... wink Must be the time of year, its happening to my real life friends too. Red Rock is nice, and the area up in the mountains above red rock, where there are pine trees and it gets cool. I used to count cards, so Vegas used to be fun. Then they changed the rules, and made it so counting doesnt really give much of an advantage anymore. And I don't see much point in giving them my money ( I didnt get the nickname Cash for nothing). So Vegas is now only fun to walk the Strip, and see some shows. Got a call yesterday from the guy who was my best friend when I lived in Texas. He and his son, are coming out in a couple of weeks. And his son likes to run, and wants me to show him some trails out here. So I am really excited about that.

Dave and Pace- I would be psyched to see you guys at the Relay. Bugs, were you still debating running National? Why the.sad face?

                            Dave

I did my first double tonight. Second run was 1.3 miles with DD11 (5th grade) who's in the Girls on the Run program with her 5K coming up in May. I'm so proud. She did great. 11:23 pace with a little sprint at the end. No walking. Yeah!Smile

I ran a mile and I liked it, liked it, liked it.
