Nice long run Bugs! Enjoy taper!

    Nice schedule Pace! Enjoy training!

    Kick butt tomorrow Perry!!

Got in 15 miles with my RP. It was her longest run in months. Sun wasn't out much thank goodness but boy the HUMIDITY was!  I have no clue how tomorrow's long run is going to be. This is the first back to back midlong/long run that I've done in over a year and I usually start out with the long run then do the mid long one. We shall see. Supposed to be another HOT HUMID day. Nothing like coming home drenched in my own sweat like I spent the whole time in a shower....................... NOT lol

Forgot to eat lunch, so wolfing down some tuna right now -- bit of a hurry cause I'm going to go run with a friend in half an hour.

I've never understood people that 'forget" to eat, but then I've never understood people that eat tuna.. you're that smelly kid at lunch that use to annoy me. Smile I hope you did not poop tuna all of your friend. Smile

Need details on the TRI? How long is each event?

MTA: good luck on the 5k, I think that is this weekends race for you, right??

        Pam,

You are amazing, most people would be happy with a 15 mile LR after an ultra and not call it a mid-week LR.

Hal Higdon schedules a mid-week run the day before the LR. I've never ran his schedules that way, since my schedule works better run the mid-week run during the week. Anyway, just been on my head lately wondering wish way is better.

Just light house cleaning today, feels great to be mostly a bum after that 23 mile LR. I'm so damn happy right now. Smile

        On the road again...

Had a great long run today covering 13 miles. Run 9 minutes at easy pace and walk 1 minute. Did 13 of those cycles and then ran a bit at the end to cooldown. Felt good, but legs are a little sore tonight.

I write. I read. I run. One time, I ran a lot on my 50th birthday.

Good runs here, you guys! Enjoy your taper, Bugs.

Higdon repeats the Wednesday MLR on Saturday, so you do 2x that distance for the week.

I ran 9.1 this morning, in smoky conditions. We have forest fires all around us, so depending on which way the wind goes, we could get smoke or not. Then spent hours in the garden so I'll be appropriately stiff and sore tomorrow. Temps in the low 80's here today, humidity 20% so it's very very dry (hence the fires!).

Yes I should have mentioned that. I usually did say 10 on Tuesday, 10 on Thursday, and 20 on Saturday, with short runs in between when he had 10 on Wed, 10 Saturday, and 20 Sunday. Not sure how big of a training difference the two approaches are.  This time I have mostly trained by how I felt. I did let myself rest before and after the races because I was tired of running races at marathon pace, although that is much easier to recover from then racing half marathons.

                Nice runs, Pam and Paul!

Me?  I aborted my planned 12 at 8 today.  The heat was getting to me, and it was only 75°.  I felt awful the whole run and decided to give myself a break.  I might even take a rest day or two this week.

Didn't hit my goal today, but got a nice plaque. It felt hot out there; people said it was the humidity. Also didn't have anyone in front of me, and I do better when I have someone to visually focus on.

It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.

It's nice to win, even if you don't get your goal time.  (I'm guessing you won, right?)

Yep, and us geezer guys (40s) took places 1-4. So... go geezers Smile

Sorry you had to abort your plan Lou Sometimes that's just the best thing to do!

                        WTG Perry!! GO GEEZERS lol

Thanks Bugs. It was weird having a recovery/peak week. I'll be getting a mid long run in during the week as well now that I'm back to "training"   I've always liked to do 12 or so during the the middle of the week even when I'm doing the back to back mid long/long runs. Just can't wait to be acclimated to this heat.

Nice to hear you enjoyed a nice recovery run Paul!

AKKK Erika @ forest fires!!! Way to get out there and run despite the smoke. Hope to hear the fires are under control and gone asap!!

Got in 20 miles this morning. Ira the "leader" said he'd be happy with 20 @ 10 minute pace. Sounded good to me. Had lots of open areas with bright sun and lots of humidity but could of been worse so I'm happy. As much as I hate to do it I'm starting to get my heat training in. Now got a afternoon of shopping then yard work. Very exciting plans huh lol

Pam, the fires here don't really get under control. They work to keep them from burning up property, but not much they can do with a 55,000 acre fire. That's the biggest one, and the one causing our smoke problems. We burn up a good number of acres every year, mostly from lightning strikes. We've been so dry this year that we were expecting fires, just didn't want them to show up so early!!

Way to go, Perry. You're so understated, it's funny.

                          20 miles, nice Pam.

I was wanting to run 12-13 miles today, but with this smoke it might not happen. I might try to go later when the smoke lifts a bit, but it's not worth lung damage, that's for sure. Got lots to do around here without running for 2 hours.

                            Perry:  18:55... smokin'

I thought you said you don't run under 19?

                            What was your goal?

                              My goal was 18:30.

                              I've been running between 18 and 19 for a while now, actually, but I don't run under 18 -- although I wouldn't complain if  I did Smile

I'm pretty sure that if we had 55,000 acres on fire anywhere around here, it'd be a very big deal.

It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.

oops, I should have known that

no run for me today -- unlike Perry I need a rest day now and again

I am brewing beer, though -- only the second batch this year.  We are out of homebrew, yikes!  Too much working and not enough playing, I say.  This time it's a bitter (kind of a milder english pale ale).

I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday.  Unfortunately Harriet is at work now, and I need to work at 5pm for about an hour (starting a satellite test).
